aFe Pre-Filter?

I know there are a few people on here that have aFe Stage 2 CAI's on their trucks - and their reviews (and a good deal) were the main reasons I decided on this particular brand. Thanks for that!
Anyway, I just bought one of aFe's "pre-filters" for it (I have the oiled filter), and was wondering if anyone else has a pre-filter on their aFe CAI?
Specifically, if anyone has one - does it fit the filter correctly? Or is it WAY bigger than the filter? Mine has the correct model number that aFe recommended for this CAI, but the damn filter looks like it has a hair-net for an afro on it now. It's huge!
I talked to a customer rep at aFe, and he said he "thought" that they should fit kind of tightly, so I might have gotten one that was mis-packaged. But he wasn't sure about the fit of this exact model.
Since I ordered the pre-filter from Amazon, though, I would have to return it to them. And so, before I go to that PITA effort, I thought I would ask the experts on here to make sure mine is actually not the right one, first.

I also recently switched to an aFe stage 2 setup. No one here has done any custom dyno tunes with an intake to post real gains from any of the supported CAI setups for our trucks, lots of opinions though, but this one had the highest manufacturer claimed gains in hp and tq I found available. That's all I really care about for all these bolt on performance parts. I assumed the prefilters kind of would fit like a shower cap over the filter, they are probably loose on these large non-round filters and tighter on say a round K@N . I may get one for the trips back to camp over the summer, miles of dirt or should I say dust roads and if you are not the first truck in the convoy, you are completely dusted out. However, I will pull over and put it on only use it when needed, and not leave it on.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I have the dry filter and I don't have a pre-filter for mine. I just pull it off and knock the dust off of it every so often. If it's too dirty I'll get out the shop vac. It says that'll take it back to about 95% as good as brand new in the instructions. I'm not a fan of the oil filters. They clog up if they get too dusty and they're a pain in the *** to clean and re-apply the oil. So IMO, just sell the oil filter and buy a dry filter to put on there...lol
I don't have your brand, but I have a K&N filter on my intake (also oiled) and was noticing my oil was a good bit dirtier at change time and I'm assuming this is because I do a great deal of driving on dusty, dry red clay dirt roads a good 50% of the time when I'm up at the farm in south Georgia.
I went to the pre-filter and saw that my oil was a good bit cleaner from the very first change after going to it.
Mine fits fairly tight, as I have to stretch it over the filter to put it on.

Ditto, I just use the Dry Filter provided. When dirty I just soak it in sudsy water, rinse and dry. I would never use an oiled filter, just a PITA from my dirt biking experiences.

Back in the day, a dry filter just couldn't compare to an oiled filter but there has been a lot of technology going into dry filters just in the last 3-4 years. The premium dry filters have caught up to premium oiled filters as far as filtration and flow goes, but don't require the upkeep.
If I was to buy one today, I'd go with a dry one, probably the Amsoil and their pre-filter. But since I already own the K&N in both my truck and Jeep, I haven't seen data to convince me to pull a perfectly good one out and spend $ on a new one. I guess I'll just have to give up that half day to clean and re-oil mine once every three-four years...
