Default 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 trx4 Radio removal.

Can anyone tell me how to pull the Radio from this truck?
I have been looking and do not really know where to start?
If you have a diagram or know a website I can get on I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Bob

go to this website and 3/4 of the way down the page on the left side is a link for Chrysler mygig new installation guide. Click that and toward the bottom shows how to remove and install the radio in the ram trucks.

It's not so bad. Hardest thing is getting the ring around the shifter off. Be careful with it as the tab will break off.

With the armrest lifted, using a small flat screwdriver work it between the chrome ring and trim panel around shifter. There are a number of serrated tabs (6-8). When you come to one, using the screw driver push in (towards shifter) and slightly lift ring. Do this all the way around - it will probably take two-three rotations around if only pulling up a little at a time.

Take rubber mat out of cubbie in front of shifter. Remove the two screws. Lift up on trim grabbing both sides closest to center console. Lift and remove.

Remove top little skinny rubber piece above radio - remove screws underneath. Remove cover over AC outlet using small screw driver - remove screw underneath.
Starting at the bottom and grabbing both sides pull trim towards you and work your way up. Don't pull too far as there are still many wires attached. Once the whole thing is free, reach around and disconnect wires. Most have a push tab and will slide out easily. One has a 90 deg bar to flip to disconnect.

Now, only thing holding radio in is 4 screws.

Reverse order to re-assemble.

I am thinking about doing the same thing as well but I would like to know, is it really necessary to have the dealer scan tool for a mygig deck to work? Shouldn't that be plug and play?
