Buying a new Ram in Canada with very low budget
Hi,
I have decided to finance a brand new Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I have made up my mind about financing. Now, there are certain things that I need to know about this:
1-I have a very, very limited budget and am unemployed at the moment, with another job on the horizon as I have several interviews lined up already. In any case, is there some kind of loan I can get to begin with the financing and then take it on my own once I'm making money?
2-The person at the dealership I went to said that all 2011 Dodge Rams come with these headlights: http://www.manassaschryslerjeepdodge...e-ram-1500.bmp
However, I'm looking for this kind:

So is what the salesperson said true or does he have it wrong?
3-I will not do any four-by-fouring/off-roading/towing etc. with the Ram but should I get 4 by 2 or 4 by 4? Also, a V6 or V8? I will do city/highway driving but I don't want a slowpoke with little accelerration. At the same time, I don't want a gas guzzler so the Hemi is definetly not a choice.
4-Do Dodge cars fall apart fast and regularly need repairs? yes, it depends on maintenance, but I will take care of it good.
5-Is the fuel economy really bad?
Thanks mates

It is a truck, there is no such thing as fuel economy. There is a very long post at the top of this section about MPGs.
Two kinds of lights
V6 not big enough for a QC (Not even sure it is offered), get the Hemi
If the loan is in another name you can not "transfer it". You would have to get a new loan, which will screw you over as it would be a used vehicle at that point, which means higher interest rates. Maybe you can get one with a co-signer, but without a job that is doubtful. My advise, get a job first.... If you need something buy a POS until then.

Seriously, while I'd love to help you with what you'd probably want to hear... I simply can't
Get a job first! A NEW truck should NOT be on your radar... especially if you're so worried about mpg and financing... Common sense should prevail here!

is it not ok to finance the ram (assuming they allow me to) and get a job shortly after?
For what it's worth, all three engines are rated to get similar mileage.
Second, you shouldn't be looking to buy a brand new truck if you aren't employed. Even if you feel you are going to land a job soon, there is no guarantee until you sign the contract and get your first pay check. I'd wait until that happens before you buy a shiny new truck.

I bought a new truck and 9 months later I lost my job. Paying for the truck, insurance and gas on EI is not fun man.

Everyone here loves their Dodge trucks. But all of us agree that they ain't cheap to run, between payments, gas and insurance.
Whether it's a new car, truck or boat you're considering, you will enjoy it a LOT more when you can afford to pay for it.
Buying this truck (if you can even get financing) will be like having an anchor around your neck.
You won't enjoy it like you should.

thx for the replies all. how much would this car cost me if i drive not too often in a month in terms of fuel, maintenance, financing? give me an estimate. i will drive in city/highway only. also, i have convinced my fam to pay a significant sum of the monthly payments so a p/t simple job will give me (much) more than i need.
