Default Early oil change?

I've been changing my own oil @ 5000km intervals since I dropped the dyno oil. I've been using Mobil One full synthetic 5W-20 and reseting the oil change indicator each time. The indicator has come on @ 3800km since my last change and I'm a little shocked. It's been cold here and I've been running the engine to warm up and idle, plus I've put patio stones in the box for weight. My gas mileage has suffered, so I guess the computer is right. Anybody experience this?

It used to be 2/3 months or 5000 kms, then all of a sudden we go to super thin oil and it can last up to 10000kms or 6 months....but all of a sudden now the dealer is pushing 3 months and every second one they want 79 bucks for it to rotate tires, check brakes, oil change? Getting out of hand.

Did you notice last winter that you had to change your oil prematurely because of the cold. I'm not sure if you warm up your vehicle in the cold or let it idle more this time of year, but I do notice the difference on gas mileage. I only got about 540km out of my last tank. as mentioned, I've added weight and had a large generator in the bed. I'm also assuming that the indicator doesn't take into consideration the fact that the oil is synthetic and only the type of driving that is done..

My buddy has an 09 CC and gets his changed at the dealer with dino oil. I'll have to give him a call and see how frequently his indicator comes on..
