Default Chrome Rims Peeling

I have a 2009 Sport with the 20" Chrome Clad rims. Washed the truck today only to find every rim has a ton of the chrome peeling off. Mostly in the corners. Had the cladded rims on my 05 and no issues, they actually held up real well. This truck isn't even 2 years old and the rims are shot. Pretty POD right now.

On the earlier models, I know bubbling was an issue with the clearcoat on the rims lips. But the new style eliminated that issue. What about the chrome itself? Anyone else seeing this with their rims? This better be a warranty item.

I have the same issue on my 09 Ram sport. It isn't peeling yet, but it is showing a fadeing or discoloring or like a pitting on the inner corners of the rims. I have tried everything to get it shiny like the outside, but can't. That's why I am looking at getting new rims, but if they are covered under warranty, then I will look at getting new rims from dodge. I am sure they will say that it is just normal wear and tear and won't be covered.

i had the same exact problem with mine! i had 3 of them replaced by the dealer but when i took it in for the 4th apparently the "warranty rep" was there and denied it. he said it would buff out! i called bs but the service rep said that the dealer was gonna have to eat the other 3 at $450 a piece. so now i am stuck with 3 new rims and a discolored one... the discoloring kind of looked like the way motorcycle exhaust pipes have the brownish tint to them in the same corners you are talking about.

That coppery colored tint is what is under the chrome once it peels off. No way in heck they can buff something that is not there.

That sucks, I hope I don't find that mine are going to do that, though I don't see myself keeping them on long enough. lancelanz, you should have told the rep to take it over to the service department right then and show you how it will buff out. When he was unable to do it, then you could have asked him for your replacement, haha. Not trying to laugh at your expense, just at the thought of making him eat his words...

Our wheels started pitting at 3,500 mi. the first winter and have started turning green in the tight areas this winter at 11,000 mi. We have kept the truck clean and waxed. If enough people complain to Dodge maybe they will start replacing them. So far all we have gotten is the runaround by Dodge and the dealer. Also, both bumpers have rust.
