Yeah I'm guessing the ebay kit probably isn't as good of quality as HID extra. The color of the bulb shouldn't matter. It's the gas inside the bulb that makes the color, so the blue bulbs from the ebay kit are a bad sign right off the bat. If possible, I would hook up the HID bulbs. I'd be willing to bet they're brighter.

Too ricey for me, its a truck, not a civic, but just an opinion

Actually the color of the bulb does matter... the higher up the scale the less intense and more purple/blue they become

An 8000k bulb is blue whether from ebay or not, 4100k-4700k is the whitest and the brightest HID bulb, although what TDTIPMO said about quality is true, if you have a good brand name youll get a better warranty. Ebay kits usually have less if any warranty. Both are typically made in china anyway with lowest bidder parts and just badged with different logos

The bulbs are the same color (clear). It's the element on the outside of the bulb I'm referring to; one is white, one is blue.

I'm not sure I follow on the whole "quality" thing either - I can understand the quality of the housing being different, or the quality of the reflectors, but isn't a bulb a bulb? I mean, if I buy a 100w GE soft white bulb and a Sylvania 100w soft white bulb and plug them in side by side the light output would be the same - so why not with two 6000k xenons?

when I say the color of the bulb im talking output, not glass color... when you turn the bulb on what color is it... thats what im talking about

Quality is tough man, and to some its a matter of opinion. In our ctsv I swapped out a new HID bulb (to troubleshoot a dying ballast )of the same color output as the driver side and its color output was way off. It looked as though I had a 6000k bulb witha 4300k bulb. Even after a couple of months to let the bulb "settle" it didnt look right and I had to replace the other side as well, then all was well. I have read everywhere, if your going to replace one HID bulb replace the other side regardless for consistency.

House bulbs and HID bulbs are way different

That's why I'm talking about the color of the element on the outside of the bulb - output color can be very subjective from one person to the next.

Ya think? I was using the bulb analogy as... well, as an analogy.

Nevermind dont take a pic... i know what your talking about. I dont believe that means anything at all. My two sets in the garage have white protectors and they are both different colors so I dont think it means much. Some use red blue yellow and white amongst ohers. All it does is protect the ac line to the opposite end of the bulb from the intense heat the bulb itself is giving off.
