Default Check This Rust!!!!!!

here is a pic new to uploading pics i got a couple more once i figure it out. this is the passenger side bottom of the door on the outside and this is everywheres on my truck. I live in Nova Scotia Canada i won't name the dealership yet but i will say that i have showed them this at least 10 times and have noticed it for almost a year now. They told me i should of bought a dark colored vehicle and keep blowing me off. I have no idea what else to do but this is the same everywheres. Some of it might wash off but most of it won't. I am not a happy camper for switching from Ford to this and no service. I called Dodge Canada multiple times and they keep say go see your service manager but they are terrible too. I had the front of the box where the sides rivet to the front and ya look in and see the rivets. every rivet broke and rusted and the rust run down the paint and they did fix that and wouldn't look at the rest of the truck.

Looks like "rail dust". have you tried using a clay bar and giving it a good wax job? Not sure why the dealership is giving you the run around though. I think I'd give them a little more pressure and start moving up the ladder for results.

If this is rail dust or metal that is on the paint (ie not from under the paint) a clay bar will take it off. I had to spend a few hours with a clay bar removing stuff like that when my truck was new. Every few months I have to pull the clay bar out; it's the only hard part of having white.

I get specs of rust like this, but it's from road debris and brake dust. I too have white, you notice everything that gets on the paint; this is the drawback with white. The positive is swirls, scratches, and dings don't show up easily!

Looking at the pictures you've posted I would say that they either don't know how to use a clay bar or didn't really try. I had several spots like that and didn't have any problem removing them.

It is possible that that's from underneath, but it doesn't look like it is from the pictures you've posted. I would go down to the store and get a Mother's clay bar and work it yourself. Do you know how to mix the solution to spray on the paint? Use about a tablespoon of good carwash soap to 32oz of water (in a pray bottle) or buy some premade solution. You just want to make sure you have enough soap in it so you don't put swirls in your paint, but too much soap will reduce the cutting power of the clay bar.

I wouldn't trust a dealership to correctly detail my paint. If you work it yourself you might not get any results, but a least you know it was correctly done. Read through using a clay bar at Zaino:

Yea, that is stuff on the top of the paint rusting, which you do want to remove ASAP. This is completely different from the rash of poor chrome bumpers.

The only way to avoid stuff like this in the northern states (or in your case Canada) is to wash weekly and keep it waxed or get the paint protectant. You should be able to rub your finger over your paint and be as smooth as can be, this way stuff will not stick to it as easy and washes off easy. Replacing the brake pads with ceramic will also help.

I have had this on Fords, GMs and Dodge, but not in the past couple years as I have been maintaining better.

i would go to body or detail shop just to find out exactly what you are dealing with. i'm not sure the pictures are telling the whole story since you had the other rust issue.

Mine looked(s) like that. I called Dodge and they said rail dust. I clay barred and clay barred and clay barred. I've been using a clay bar forever. I even used it to get that spray in bedliner material splatter off my jeep. So, I know what I am doing. The dealership even clay barred it. I am still fighting with those same rust marks. I had them all over my painted bumper, and that paint has started to peel. I took it to the dealership and they said stone chips. I was like, so you are telling me I have a stone chip in the middle of my rear bumper towards the top? We'll know if it's rail dust or paint failure in a matter of time.
