Is this new Firestone Work-Rite Kit installed instead of the air bags or can you or should you install both?

Work-Rite kit can be ordered separately or combined with coil-rite. I don't think Firestone is offering the Coil-Rites alone anymore.

Yes. And the jounce springs are the 5.2 inch white for 1/2-ton trucks

Default affect ride

they must really affect the ride quality. getting rid of that travel would seem to make a big difference, if not they are a great idea.

Thats what I was thinking... ONe of the reasons I bought a 2010 dodge 1500 is for the nice ride of the coil springs. I think the bumper stops would almost completly take my springs and shocks out of the equation unless I have a heavy load in the back..
