Default help me choose air bags, controller and air compressor.

Going to order air bags, compressor and controller this week.

Whats better firestones or Air lift bags? I see the kits are priced very differently

Air lifts- 85$
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...-air-bags.html

Fire stones- 242$
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...-air-bags.html

Which kits is better? The firesotnes have a extra peicce to their kit that looks like it goes in the middle of the axle to support the load even more?

I need a compressor and controller as well. I am going to be using the system 3-4 times a week with different loads so I don't want to mess around with a air compressor at the gas station. I don't have any opinion about a compressor so which one?

I really like the wireless controller and compressor though
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...eless-air.html Seems to have added safety in that it will monitor and adjust your pressures for you.

any advice?

Hey, that's the new Firestone Work-Rite kit. You may be the first to own one.

A lot of us had problems with the former kit ( Coil-Rite) which sold for the same price as the Air-lift's.

I have a new kit coming from Firestone as a warranty replacement but I don't know if its the new one. Should be here before the end of the week.

I have installed the Airlifts that suspensionconnection "GAVE" me while Firestone was dragging their feet on the warranty and they are doing fine so far (1 month).

Well i done some research on that as well a couple of weeks ago and from what i read the airlift seems better. I read some people had their firestone fail on them. Same with airlift but there were more cases with the firestones failing (especially in really cold temperature like our great canadian one).

So i myself ordered the airlift and the airlift controller 1 from auto anything (http://www.autoanything.com/suspensi...A2968A0A0.aspx). I should have them anytime now and i will install them once the snow is gone.

Ya I read on here awhile ago about some guys havin firestones leak and give out. A buddy of mine where I live has firestones. He's had them for a few years. one air bag has a very slow leak. No other issues.

I'd like some input about what the extra support the firestone kit offers does. DakataHO, did your set of firestones have the extra peice in the kit I listed?

Yep. The kit came today and it has the extra "jounce" springs etc. It's a part # 4190. Here is the scoop on the extra springs.
Firestone Work-Rite

Firestone Work-Rite
New Applications for Dodge Ram, Ford F-Series and Nissan Titan
February 3, 2010
The Firestone Work-Rite is a load management system to assist when hauling or towing. The system uses injection-molded microcellular urethane springs to supplement the factory suspension system. The springs offer variable resistance and help absorb bumps and improve ride for better handling when loaded. When unloaded, the system will not affect the ride.
The Work-Rite springs are available in three load ratings and are easily identified by color: white for 1/2-ton trucks, gray for 3/4-ton trucks and black for 1-ton trucks. Two heights are also available: 3.7 inches and 5.2 inches, so the appropriate height can be chosen for each specific application.
The system works similarly to an air-over-leaf load assist without the hassles of monitoring or adjusting air pressure. The setup is maintenance-free and most applications can be installed without drilling. The kits include spacers to adjust the system for different load demands. The basic kit includes load assist springs, brackets, instructions and mounting hardware. Installation can be performed in under an hour using basic hand tools.
Firestone has added applications for the 2009+ Dodge Ram 1500, Ford F-Series pickups and 2004-2009 Nissan Titan. With these additions, the Work-Rite applications now cover Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge and Ford trucks produced within the last decade.

Are those Work-rite things available without having to buy the coil spring bags? Anyone know?

Thanks for the info. Really helps. I think I'll get the firestone kit .. Not sure if the longer bump stops do much when you have air in your bags, but extra peace of mind I guess.
