Default Changed muffler Magnaflow 14" to Magnaflow 22"

Only put a few miles on it so far but I am happy with the results. Sounds good when I am getting on it, but drone is all but gone just a small hint.(to get rid of that I think I would have to just put the stock one back on)

The 14" sounded great when I was getting on it and general cruising about but a bit of drone on the highway got tired of it. Will give more reports when I drive it more and will post if I notice any changes in MPG's doubt it though but you never know.

Where did you pick up the 22 at? Also, do you have dual exhaust or just the single exhaust? I have the stock single exhaust right now but I am thinkin about throwing in a Y pipe and have duals out to the rear. If I did that I'd have a muffler on each pipe, maybe the 22" you have now. Any thoughts on this? Do you know of something better? I was gonna go with a whole cat back system, but I figured it'd be a lot cheaper this way. Just looking to improve the sound while having the look of duals, but not spending $700 to do it.

local muffler shop Single in Single out. Thought of doing the duals but if I am doing that I want the duals bumper to go with it. Mine sounds good so I am happy. only cost me 155 installed.
rather then do it that way may as well just use the Single in Dual out muffler and save the money on a second y pipe in the system (factory one and the one you are talking of adding) when the Single in Dual out muffler will do the same thing and be cheaper. and the cost of a second muffler.

I had a 20 something inch on my 3rd gen after putting a shorter one on, found the 20 was much better. However it still had annoying highway drone

I have a 2009 5.7 single exhaust. Has anyone removed their resonator? If so, what does it sound like. It's a 30.00 option at my local muffler shop. I would like just a little more exhaust note.

Yeah that's true. I guess I can use a single in dual out instead of the Y pipe after the cat and then just run straights from the muffler. Then again there are probably O2 sensors in there some where that need to be kept in tact huh? Did you just replace your resonator with the muffler or did you leave the resonator in line?

Im not so sure you want to do that. If I remember correctly our trucks use the back pressure in the resonator box for some transmission shifting points. Look under your truck and see if there are any sensing lines running off of it. Just something to think about.

I had the 18" magnaflow too and it was too much noise for me. I have the 2009 Laramie crew cab with factory duals. Had it removed and replaced with the 24" magnaflow. Much happier, wish I would have bought the 24" the 1st time and saved some money. I still have the 18" with about 150 miles on it if anyone is interested. $45 includes shipping to lower 48...

I left the resonators, yea the 22" is perfect to me can hear it when I get on it and just a hair louder then stock when I am cruising on the highway. the drone is 99% gone.
