it was a column shift.. It had a toggle with a plus and minus on it. Figured they were possibly the same deal. maybe i didn't know how to use it, was just an observation I had. Overall i was very impressed with the truck and to be honest if I ever see a RCSB 4x4 sport... might just have to buy it lol.

If you apply a small bit of throttle (just barely enough for the truck to register), it might coax the truck to up shift.

I know this is hardly a comparison, but in our 2006 M5, the SMG transmission (it's a computerized hydraulically actuated manual transmission with 7 speeds, for those that don't know), has manual and automatic modes. In manual mode, it will never upshift unless you tell it to. However, in automatic mode, it drives similar (but not exactly) like an automatic. And one of things it does is never upshift unless you are giving it some level of throttle.

However, it should be noted that the gear selector is a range finder. You just tell it the maximum gear and it still otherwise behaves like an automatic and determines what gear is best for the situation. This is very different from a tiptronic that will upshift and and downshift upon your commands (assuming the shift is possible - you can't use 5th or 6th at 10mph, and you can't downshift to 2nd at 80mph).
