Brakes
It could be defective calipers if it continues to happen, even after changing brands of rotors. We had that problem on our 2000 Grand Cherokee. Went through a couple sets of pads/rotors early on, during warranty, then replaced with Stillen slotted rotors after warranty was over. Still warped. Years later we learned that Chrysler found defective calipers and then got the whole system (rotors, calipers, pads) replaced under 'special' warranty again. Apparently the calipers hung up a little and kept things too hot.

Just food for thought..... and i`m no expert.... BUT,
when slowing down, or coming to a stop light, do you guys still hold your foot on the brake pedal while you are completly stopped...???? This will cook your brake rotors very quickly. When hot brakepads are kept pressed against the rotors, you`ll heat up that particular spot on the rotors. Then the rotor swells from the heated area, warp`s the rotor(s) due to that area being over heated. It dosent take very long for the rotors to become out of round from the heat. We ALL pretty much know, that the quality today isnt that great, so rotors are going to suffer severely. Rotors today are thinner to save weight, and the metals they`re made from aren`t that good either. Change driving habits, or step up to a better grade of brake parts, and if not, you will continue to eat rotors. I use to warp rotors all the time until i quit holding my foot on the brake pedal while stopped. I stop with alot of room in front of me and let my truck inch forward so i dont leave the brake pads to burn into the rotors. Ever since doing this, i havent warped a rotor since. Dunno, see if that works for you, it definatley worked for me. Everyones driving habits and driving area`s are different, just have to figure out what works for you without using the brake pedal more than nessesary. I find that i coast more to my stops, thats saved me tons of cash on future brake work.

Just so everyone knows, I don't mean to pick on you HEMI5150, rotors don't warp. Brake pad material is transfered to the rotor unevenly and causes ridges that make it seem like your rotor is warped.

"As the pad material bonds to the rotor, the surface of the rotor then becomes uneven, and the brakes begin to vibrate at high speeds. The brake rotors do not warp, however. Even the most extreme braking conditions on public roads do not generate enough heat to cause the brake rotors to warp."
thanks for your input fellas. TDTIPMO, what kind of price ranges have you found on EBC stuff?
Also ive never really thought about the difference between slotted or drilled rotors. any opinions out there on which way to go on those?

eeeeek`s, sorry guyz, i didnt meen to make myself out to be an expert here, i was just givin my opinion and some results i`ve seen with my own vehicles in the past about sitting at stop signs/lights with hot pads cooking against the brakerotors.
Firther more, for those of you that want to believe someone telling you that rotors dont warp out of shape due to extreme heat and usage, i strongly disagree with that statement. Go measure a cold brake rotor and then put a torch to it for a few minutes, wait for it to cool back down and then remeasure it. I bet you`ll see a difference...! Heated metal always expands when heated, then when it cools back down, its thickness becomes undersized. Ask any professional welder, they would know metal properties best and i bet they would agree 100% with me about how metal can change size and form when heated.
Hey "OldJeep"
thankyou for the back-up bro, at least YOU know what i`m saying

Houndogg, i would have to say, YOU know how to use your brakes effectively.
Now watch this, i`ll take some hits for THIS next statement (lol)
For the most part, i think the people warping their rotors are the people with bad braking habits to start with.
High speed and overload right into some hard "Cowboy stops" ring a bell folks...???? (lol)

With my daily driver, which is a manual, whenever possible I keep my foot off the brake and just let the car sit. Sometimes I'll pull the parking brake.
However, it's not possible to do that with an automatic tranny unless you keep shifting to neutral, which can't be that great for the transmission. So unless you stop with a huge gap in front of you, this is probably not going to work well...

Rarely do i ever keep pressure on my brake pedal while stopped, i always try to keep the truck rolling so as not to let the brake pads sit in the same spot on the brake rotors. Doing this is alot cheaper than replacing brake parts. I`m very easy on my vehicles to say the least.
When I worked in the Chrysler dealer we would get folks in raising hell over warped rotors, worn front pads in 15k on 1500 trucks as well as other vehicles. Years go by. I stop in there and get with a old co worker. He was discussing warped rotors on a Caravan.3rd time. $100 deduct with 35k on the speedo,New rotors going on it this time etc. I sad you know I'm still driving my 1500 SB truck I bought way back when. 105k on it original brakes front and back with no issues. He said I'm still driving the 1999 1500 I bought with 113k on it.Original brakes. No issues. Go figure.
