Put in new Sprak Plugs
Don't see why. Its the plug used in the two other 5.7s. The 6.1 Hemi comes with a 100k plug. I think the only reason the cheaper plug used in the 1500 5.7 trucks was exactly that. They were less exspensive. This is second hand but when I bought the salesman brought the 16 plugs every 30k to my attention. Then he said the Chrysler rep said he'd be darn if he'd change them every 30k cause at the first 30k the Platiumn 100k plugs would be put in. Only difference is the precious metal tip for less wear as spark occurs.

Big mystery, huh. On the Dakota forum everyone with the 4.7 single plug engine prefer the coppers over the platinums.
This stuff has gotten so technically sensitive since the days when we used to put AC 44 plugs in our '55 chevys and eyeball the gaps.
One other thing. In comparison to other models with the 5.7 hemi, do they run at 500RPM when idling. My Ram does and I've never had a vehicle that idled so smooth at that RPM. Could it be the copper plugs????????????

Copper and Platiumn are the same plug. The TIP is whats different. Not the core.The standard plug is of quicker wearing tip metal. The platinum plug is a COPPER core plug(same as standard) with a precious metal tip that lasts longer. Idle speed has nothing to do with a spark plug. Me I like 650 RPM.. My vette idles at 500 also.
My 09 crew cab hemi came with the 100k NGK's. I pulled one and was ready to change them. Saw it, went to my dealer and he said he has found quite a few 09's with the 100k plugs. Theres no rhyme or reason to whats in the truck it seems.

Trucks being so popular and a Chrysler best seller. I bet someone said besides the price of the plug you get a lot of them back in the door every 30k. Heck of a way to retain customers. LOL
I just changed mine all looked ok but the Pass back was a little dirty does any one have the number for the 100K plugs I don't want to be doing this every year and a half. Also as an FYI I found it a lot easier with the 2 driver side rear sets to take the fender well off the front tire and go in through there.

To remove the fender well it is fairly easy. I jacked up the truck put it on stands then removed the tire. I am trying to recall but I believe there are 3-4 hex head screws around the outer fender perimeter and then 2 located directly above the tire. You then have 3 body connectors (The rigid push connectors) one located to the front, one in the center, and one in the back. You will also see a little white clip towards the back that holds a wire harness clip, pop that out. It is just then pushing it in and tilting it out really easy 5-10 min is worth it. Next time I will take pics.
