Default Upper glove compartment removal 2010 to find Sirius

I've got a 2010 RAM SLT with factory radio, sirius and uconnect ipod. When my 1 year Sirius subscription ends I was thinking of using my portable Sirius and not need a second subscription. So now I'm searching for the Sirius tuner which I think is behind the glove compartment.

I've got 2 glove compartments. The lower one was easy to remove. Not sure what I need to do with the upper one. It has an iPod plug.

Does anyone know if the Sirius tuner is behind the upper glove box. I've looked up there and don't see it. Is the Sirius tuner even separate from the factory head unit?

I could probably use the aux mp3 jack but then I would lose the steering wheel controls.

Advice appreciated.

tuner is in the head unit. you can transfer the subscription from a portable unit to a factory automobile unit. it does not work the other way though; once it is attached to the vehicle it stays with that vehicle.

Not totally true...tell them you wrecked your vehicle or you were forced to sell it and they can transfer it from a factory radio to a portable unit. Did that with my dads lifetime subscription when he traded his truck and he bought a portable radio for his new truck

They were actually quite clear about it when i purchased a portable unit with a Lifetime subscricption in December 2010. I would not be able to transfer it back to a portable unit once I "married" it to my truck.
Current Terms of Use per SiriusXM:
9. Lifetime Subscription Plan: A "Lifetime Subscription" is one that continues for the life of the Receiver equipment. Lifetime Subscriptions are nonrefundable. Non Automotive Receivers: A Lifetime Subscription associated with a home, portable, or dock & play Receiver is transferable from one Receiver to another Receiver, up to a maximum of three (3) times. For each permitted transfer of a subscription from one Receiver to another or from one person to another you will be charged a transfer fee set forth in this Agreement. Automotive Receivers: A Lifetime Subscription is not transferable if it is associated with a Receiver installed in a vehicle by an automaker or an automotive dealer, except in the event the original Receiver associated with that Lifetime Subscription is stolen, accidentally damaged or if, in the sole discretion of Sirius or XM, it is defective. For each permitted transfer of a subscription from one person to another based upon a stolen or accidentally damaged Receiver you
will be charged a transfer fee set forth in this Agreement. No transfer fee will be charged for the transfer of a Lifetime Subscription associated with a Receiver installed by an automaker or an automotive dealer if, in the sole discretion of Sirius or XM, the Receiver is defective.

They will let you transfer to a new head unit in the same vehicle if it fails.
Your father may have had a older contract that allowed that particular transfer or he may have just used common sense and courtesy to get it done.

Tricky and expensive part is getting the HU to control Sirius and dash display to show the Sirius channel. If you just want sound, I can use the MP3 front jack and use the portable radio controls.

Earlier post indicated that Sirus tuner was built in to the factory HU, so it's not a plug and play. My subscription is up the end of August, so I'm in no hurry to pull the HU and confirm what plugs it has.

It is built into the radio, now depending on what radio the Uconnect/ipod module is on the a pillar but next to the lower glove box not the upper one. It is for your phone and the cable for the ipod should be in the glove box. If not you either have to buy it still or it is back in there somewhere. If you have the Nav radio the RER then it is all in the head unit, you do however need a sirius antenna, gps antenna, uconnect will just work. Not sure about the new Garmin units.

I was the one who got it done and yes there was a lot of persuading them but like I said he had to get a new truck since his was basically a lemon and when we both talked to sirius over the phone when he bought his lifetime subscription we specifically asked about the one time transfer and nothing was mentioned about it being "locked" to a factory head unit at that time. But contracts change. I was just saying that it can be done if you use the right angle.
