Bought my First Dodge
i would think the newer trucks with any brand should have a few problems, each brand is comin up with brand new engines and compents. its gonna happen untill they have figured out every thing that happens with them. dodge has had the 5.7 for a few years now and ford has come out with, i think, five new ones, i would take a ford but would trust the hemi due to the fact that it hasnt had to many new high tech parts added, even though i could be wrong
Idk those new Ecoboost V6's they have in the F150 seem real nice. They even did a hardcore test on one from towing, to baja racing and the engine components were all still really clean and in good shape.
I've been running with Dodge for 20+ years, so far I have had very little problems with any model I own. Some of my friends say that they had nothing but problems. But I've been very pleased with my 09 Ram.
I've been really happy with my Dodge Ram's/Dakota's! When I was young and dumb, I bought my first brand new truck (97 Dakota) with the 318. Needless to say, I beat the living hell out of that thing, (A typical young person with a V8 thing...) and it held up like a top, after 115k miles, then traded it in for a new '02 Dakota SLT+ 360. I contest my youth days driving as a testament to why I currently mostly own Dodge's to this day, lol!
i wasnt sayin that they were bad engines, i was just sayin that there will end up being problems, the hardcore test and things like that show how strong they are, but you dont know how they will act a year later. I would not doubt that the ecoboost is a good engine, i would wait though to buy it till the got time to get in right. im the same way with cell phones, i wait until i get a new phone until the next model comes out, that way the maker has time to get the input from users
I had 3 diff model year F150's before coming to the Dodge side in 09. Lots of problems with my Fords, same with my sons Ranger, every few months it is something different. My Ram's been a great truck for 44k so far, we also have a 99 grand caravan with 210k that has been from east coast to west coast 2x as well as from Maine to Florida. I have to complaints with Dodge.
I had an 02 Sierra for 5 years. Great truck, no major issues. Just seemed a little long in the tooth after driving the 2010 RAM. So that was enough for me to buy something new. As much as I liked my Sierra, the RAM is so much nicer to ride.
I am at 15000kms on the RAM, no issues, that I did cause myself. (dent in bumper)

I would bet u will love your truck. This post turned into something else but I had a couple cords prior and would not go back. I am ok with an issue here or there, which my cords had, I am not ok with how they were handled and it was not a dealer issue. Specific example. I had a 99 that would have a clunk when stopping. They haf a tsb issued for it as a common issue. I had no warranty left so I paid to fix it in 02, 500 for a new drive shaft. A year later I bought a new 03. A year later the same crap. So I take it in expecting a new drive shaft. Nope. The fix is now a new kind of grease.
Here is my issue.
The issue was the same and Ford knew, yet kept making them that way. Dodge will fix things at anytime, not just at a model year, ect.
I spent 500 out of my pocket to fix my 99 based in their tsb, but later they determined different grease would fix it.
So I paid 500 for their diagnosis.
This was not a dealer issue. Was a bad product theykept pumping into trucks. If it would have been a sticky gas pedal they would have been Toyota.
