Canoe
I have a 2010 CC with the Rambox and tonneau cover. I would like to know if anyone has come up with an idea on how to have a 16 foot canoe on their truck? Either on the roof or the box.
So far I am thinking of modifying the box to install a custom rack. With ankers at the front and back of the rambox lids. Or place an after market roof rack that I found on ebay. Or fold forward the tonneau cover and custom build a rack that can be secured on the railing.
What do you guys think?

The easiest way to go, IMO, and it won't hog up the look of your truck with some huge rack: http://www.harborfreight.com/truck-b...der-45830.html

There are these setups that go into the hitch of your truck and are adjustable for lenth and width, you can even carry drywall on them, like the one at harbour frieght but they have sides that go up that help to keep stuff in place. That is the best bet since a canoe is not really heavy. And dollar wise you can use it for all kinds of stuff, a load of 12 foot 2x4's will be supported instead of just hanging out the back. You can even make one if you are a welder. Good luck.

Yeah maybe, but then you would have a big *** canoe hanging 10 feet out the back of your truck. The Thule racks actually look pretty good, and they can be removed in about 5 min. They will place the canoe up higher so you dont have to worry about someone rear ending your canoe. There is also an over the cab extension availabe to the thule rack.
It's a matter of opinion whether that big *** chunk of chrome looks good, and I've never seen any rack of that size that can be removed in 5 minutes. To each his own, I think they look like crap. Plus, he has a tonneau cover so your solution is no solution. If someone rear-ends your "big *** canoe" they were gonna hit your truck anyway so I'm not sure I see the logic here... I've used the bed extender for my 14' kayaks (now admittedly they're not "big *** canoes") and never had a problem. Maybe if you're too stupid to flag the canoe you deserve to get hit...
