I just added CAI to my 09 RAM and it adds a little bit of horse power and torque, but it makes it louder when you give the a pedal a punch. As for warranty issues it won't void anything that isn't caused by the CAI intake. The dealership would have to prove that your CAI caused the problem. Same thing for any mod. If you add CAI keep your stock setup somewhere incase you need to swap it out for anything!

nothing....and as far as the dealership having to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure, by the letter of the law you are correct...but in real world it couldnt be further from the truth...dealers will use anything to void your warranty and challenge you to fight it. I wouldnt even throw a CAI on, the horsepower gain is minimal, if any.

I'd say your best bet is probably exhaust and a tuner. I don't think either of these will voice your warranty. I would just always switch back to the stock setup with the programmer before you took it in for any warranty work. An exhaust isn't going to cause you any problems.

You will be fine with a CAI and exhaust. It isnt going to give you the horsepower you want tho. You might feel a little bit better throttle response and it will be louder. A tuner will help but if its found to be the cause of a problem then it will void your warranty. It all depends on what dealer you have. Some dealers could care less about mods and will not look for ways to void your warranty because it gives them work. Others will try to find any way possible to void warranties.

If you are that worried about it then head to your dealer and talk to the service manager. Some will tell you straight up that they dont care if you mod this that and the other. Good luck.

I read on a previous thread on hear before regarding programmers that even if you reset the computer back to the stock settings the dealership can look up to see if a programmer was installed. Any truth to this at all? I tried finding the link but of course I can't find it now.

People say that the diablo does not leave a footprint and is undectable is taken off before going in for work, but the superchips does. I am sure that if the dealer wanted to find the tuner footprint bad enough then they could.

So far my dealer hasn't been able too or hasn't tried to detect a footprint from my Superchips tuner and they have done a few RRTs since I've been using it. Setting it back to stock has worked fine so far.

I guess it all depends on the dealer prob... I have been seriously looking at the SC Cortex. Which SC do you have and how do you like it, and is it pretty easy to set back to the stock features? Hopefully I can get it within the next month or so! any input on a programmer would be appreciated since this will be my first programmer.
