Default Increase performance of my 09 Ram

I am looking for ways to incease the performance of my 2009 Dodge Ram with the 4.7 V8. I do not know a ton about cars and working on them but I want to see what I can do to increase the performance by adding a new air filter or other ideas. I also was wondering if doing any of these things would void out my factory warranty.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, I know '08 and up the 4.7 increased its ponies by around 80hp or so over the '07 and under model years which topped out at 235 hp. I had an '05 with the 4.7, and it was a complete dog (low range), and there wasn't a whole lot of performance parts on the market that would significantly change any noticeable power, then.

To answer you question regarding warranty vs. performance parts. That can be touchy, but a CAI is a safe bet to purchase, and exhaust (usually) never an issue. They can’t just say your performance part voided your warranty, it needs to be proven….

Example..

You manufacture a product and stand behind it with a one year full warranty. The purchaser (the customer) wants to improve your product by enhancing certain parts. Thereafter a problem occurs within the warranty affected by the enhanced parts installed ILO the original components by the manufacture (You). What it comes down to is, do feel it’s your (The manufactures) responsibility to cover the warranty anymore, seeing the OEM parts have been altered. That’s the risk of any vehicle when adding performance parts, while under a manufactures warranty.

I added a Volant FAI (among other things) and have had no problems with warranty issues. I also have a SuperChips and depending on what settings I use the difference is definitely noticeable (just set the PCM back to stock before you take it in for dealer service). I've heard lots of talk on here about voiding warranties, etc. with a tuner but my dealer has no problems with it. The biggest reason to set the truck back to stock is so if the dealer needs to flash any updates to your rig and it they try to flash a non-stock profile there may be problems... and in that case you may have a warranty issue!
