Has anyone replaced there shifter handle on the center console by just removing the handle.
I was looking to upgrade my handle to the new Longhorn handle, but Dodge shows to replaced the handle you have to replace the complete shifter assembly.

 

i dont know about the longhorn handle but i replaced mine with the chrome t handle from the challenger and all i had to do was replace the handle it took about two minutes the handle is only held on by a set screw i hope this helps

 

Where's the set screw?
My handle is all one piece with no set screw showing. Do you have to pop the side chrome off to get at the set screw.

 

Yes. You have to twist and pull down to pull that chrome cover off to get the screw. As far as I know, it should interchange easily unless dodge did something screwy.

Your handle should be two piece put in drive and theset screw should be in front

 

sorry the set screw is on my thandle you need a std screwdriver to remove the handle.place screwdriver between the chrome piece and the base of the shift **** push the chrome piece down it will seperate then just pull the **** up

 

I replaced mine with a leather one from a 2010 Challenger. The real leather feels a lot better than the plastic of the stock one, plus the Challenger/Charger (same **** for both models) is smaller so it fits better in your hand and doesn't eat up as much space from the bin next to it.

 

any part numbers for hte Challenger handles either crhomne or leather?
