Default Help with tires on a 4" lift

I need some advice on tire size. I have a 2010 Dodge Ram Sport, Crew Cab, 4x4, Flame red. I recently put some painted "rugged" style painted fender flares. I am having a friend install the rough country 4" lift in the next month or so. I have ordered some of 18" XD spy 797 black wheels with a -12 offset and 4.5 backspace. I am leaning towards the terra grapplers for tires. I am looking at the 295/70/18 (34.3/11.7/18) or the 325/65/18 (34.6/12.8/18). A rep at rough country thought the 325's with these wheels would be too wide. I am worried the 295's may not be wide enough. I have looked at several pics and cannot decide. I wanted the terra's because of price and I didn't want a true mud tire 35/12.50/18. I appreciate any advice.

How wide are your rims? I'm running 33x12.50's on an RC 4" lift with no rubbing at all so I'm not sure the tire width would be a problem? I think I'm also running 4.5" backspacing.

Sorry should have posted that. The rims are 18x9. I took a look at your truck pics, very nice. How do you like the rough country lift? How does it ride? I take it your turn radius and gas mileage took a little bit of a hit? Nice looking truck you have there.

Thanks. My rims are 20x10. I'm no expert but I think the people at RC are giving you a line. When I lived in Phoenix a number of my friends were running 13.5" wide tires on 8" wide wheels with no problems.

I love the lift (rides like stock) but I found RC's tech support to be very inconsistent and frankly off-base when it came to what would work on my truck and what wouldn't. For instance, I bought the kit with the kicker bars and the wheel spacers that they said would allow me to rim the stock rims. When I dropped the truck off to have the lift installed the installers took one look at it and told me the stock wheels would never work without rubbing. I told them what RC said and they laughed... then they called RC while I was there and the guy at RC agreed with them! The rims on my truck were an unexpected last minute expense for sure...

If I had to do it again I'd talk to a reputable tire dealer who understands wheel offset and take his advice. RC might know lifts but they don't know squat about tires and wheels (IMO).

With the bump in tire size the best I can tell (still running winter blend and cool temps) I might have lost at most 1-2 mpg. I only bought the truck in October so I need to get back to "summer" conditions for a true comparison.

My nephew helped me get the lift, tires and wheels on last Saturday. Actually he and his friend did most of the work and I was the wrench wench. The only hiccup was that when we took the front passenger side tire off, their was axle grease on it. I took pictures and when I called my dealership they tried to blame the lift at first and stated it could void my warranty. They ended up fixing it for me this week. Thanks for everyone's input. I couldn't get picts to download.

I would go 37s, I know the post was mainly for width, but with a lift 37s!
