On a 2009 Dodge RAM the owners manual says the Lisc. Plate lights are a 168 bulb, I went to a local performance shop to purchase the LED bulbs and they had 194's.

They guy was saying it's the same exact bulb same size and all the only difference is the Candle Power and a few other things, he said the wattage and amperage on the 194 will be less and the lights wouldn't be as bright. They sure are bright and really like the looks of them. Since they do have different specifications would it do any damage by using the 194's?

A 168 bulb is 4.9 watts while a 194 bulb is 3.78 watts. That's the only difference between the two.

The 168 won't last quite as long, due to the added heat, and in most applications, the difference in light output is negligable.
