Default Aftermarket door keypad for Ram 1500

OK… I know this may seem like a strange post, but here goes. Currently have 2001 F150 SuperCrew. Bought it new. Seriously considering a new Ram 1500. F150 has 200k km. About 135k miles. Never had a serious problem. Looked at new F150 Eccoboost engine and really like the mpg, but it is a complicated engine with lots to go wrong and probably expensive to fix. Unproven. All other 2011 F150 engines are also new technology. Ram 5.7 Hemi is a tried and true engine. Like that… believe it or not, the issue that is holding me back from the Ram is the keypad door… may seem trivial to most of you, but I have really gotten accustomed to using it. Leave my keys in F150 all the time. It’s always the little things. My question… is there an after market keypad driver door handle that I can add to the Ram 1500? Thanks.

I'm not too sure if a keypad can be used on the Sentry II programming that the newer Dodges come with? Not unless it's Mopar made product.
I specifically remember asking my alarm shop if I can add one and the owner said NO(He's a very smart Techy guy and ontop of his game). Maybe it was that he didn't carry a particular brand, or that it had something to do with my alarm??, but he made it seem that it wasn't possible at all, no matter what.
I do know that Ford's programming is MUCH different.

Your alarm guy is over thinking it - they just tie into the door unlock circuit, not the computer. Probabally wouldn't work with an alarm system.

I agree with you, Billybobs. I've always wondered why other manufacturers haven't copied Ford's keypad idea. I had an Aviator for a while and the keypad was very useful (i.e. going to the beach for the day and leaving keys in the truck). I suppose Ford patented it and won't license it to anyone. Anyway, it definitely isn't enough to cause me to consider another Ford product but I do wish it were available elsewhere. So, subscribing to this thread to see if some great idea comes along...

Have you checked to see if Mopar doesn't offer anything as an accessory?
