brake controller
I just bought a new 2011 ram 1500 4x4. hooked up an aftermarket brake controller and it keeps blowing fuses in the fuse box. it does have towing package and factory 7 and 4 trailer plugs on bumper not to sure what to think about it. the controller just came out of my old 2005 truck and worked fine however i do believe that it is the culprit and info is appricated.
it is a hopkins agility and i checked with the hopkins tech guys and came up with a bad controller. he said to check for voltage being back fed thru the trigger wire coming from the controller and bingo as soon as you call for brake it puts battery voltage thru the "red" wire which is the wire that would get hooked to the cold side of the brake switch
I bought a new Ram 1500 SLT and was told that I could put a factory brake controller into it by plugging it in. I bought the OEM controller and the dealer now says it won't work in the truck. Can anyone help explain this.
Thanks
