Windows Blew Out
I have a 2010 Dodge, 2500, mega cab. Both back seat windows were down about halfway. Both drivers and front seat passenger windows were up all the way. I got into the truck and closed the closed the door and "BAM" both back seat windows shattered completely. Small glass everywhere. I was about 60 degrees out. Sound familiar to anyone?

My rear door windows did not break but I had my passenger side rear back glass blow out last week when I got in and shut the door. Took it to dealership and body shop guy said he had only seen that once in the 30 years he has worked there and it happened on a minivan. 842 dollars later to replace power rear window it was fixed. Not happy about that at all.

I don't know if this has any relevance, but many years ago I had a rear door window shatter in a Ford Tempo. No apparent reason for it. It was a pretty hot day (90 deg or so), I had been driving for a couple of minutes at around 40 MPH with both front windows down and it just shattered. I don't know if it had to do with the temp or not.

Maybe this will help??? I noticed a while back that if you roll your rear windows down bout 3/4 of the way you can grab the top of it and it WILL move side to side. Almost like its sitting in a very narrow channel or floating in the door window guides. Maybe that has something to do with it. Not enough support.! Try it and lets see what you think....????

rear window blows out
Our 2009 Ram 1500 just had part of the rear window blow out
when my husband got something out of the back seat and shut the
door. No cracks, no warning, nothing. I called a local dealer who
said because it is so hot (Texas 103 degrees) that that was probably
the reason, but it is not covered under warranty and would be about
$850 to replace. It was the left side glass, not the slider window, but
still you have to replace the entire component. The service
person said he recently had a customer who slapped at a fly on
the window and the whole thing blew out - supposedly because
of the heat also. Are there any others who have heard the same
thing? It seems unfair to pay for defective glass.
