Default CV Angles

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a difference in CV angles between the rough country 4" and 6" lifts. I would think that there would be some difference, but I'm not sure how to find this out. My dilemma is that I'm about to buy a lift and I like the look of the 6" better than the 4", but I know there have been issues with parts wearing out because of the increased angles. I'm putting on 35" Trail Grapplers, so either one would look good, but I like the pictures I've seen of the 6" lifts with 35's. If anyone has any insight, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Josh

I just put the 4" lift on mine. I think I am correct in saying that all of the actual angles, ie CV, axle, etc are the same as stock with the suspension lift. I know that the axle angles are the same as stock.

Ok cool. So is it safe to assume that it would be the same for the 6" as well?

Yes sir, I believe so. Everything is higher up, but the actual angles are the same, if that makes sense. That is why I decided to go with a suspension lift. I think I am saying this correctly...someone correct me if I am wrong.

Not everything is higher up! Remember that you are not lifting your wheels so the CV joints are at a higher angle. That is why people like KORE sell high angle CV joints.

I belive with most suspension lifts there is a transfer case drop to maintain CV angles, which is what cowboys meant. I think.

Thanks frogslinger. My nephew is a mechanic and installed my lift...I was the wrench wench. He was explaining everything to me during installation, so that is where I am getting my "infinite wisdom"

ok cool. Well thanks guys. I'll probably end up going with the 6" and if I have some extra money laying around, I might upgrade my ball joints and cv joints.

does anyone know what the stock CV angles are?

im trying to diagnose a wheel shake problem.

alignment is good
wheels are balanced
everything else is tight and good..

shop took a look at the truck and are saying that the right side CV angle is too much and causing the shake i have. if i can measure the angle before i get the dealership involved might save me some headache

Hey Fingerbang,

Let us know the outcome. I take it this took awhile to develop?
