Just make sure your oil doesn't get too cool in the process. Bad.

Since emission control is required, by law, around here - it's a no brainer! Flunk an emmissions test - and it gets parked, plates cancelled.

I agree phil, as it it required where i live too. Some people are going to learn a valuable lesson at their own expense though.
Seems to me, if a person needed all these mods to go faster, then maybe they shoulda bought somethin faster to start with so they wouldnt have to be modding it up all the time.

You offer a lot of arguements without any proof to back you up. Only statements.

You conveniently fail to mention that low end power usually suffers, at the expense of higher end power increases. You also fai to mention that back pressure is really a good thing, where most of us really use our engines.

As to your purported increase in mileage, while increasing power and high end efficiency - very doubtful!

And, the engineers do have to back up their engineering, to obtain that all important certification required in this country, and many others.

As far as dumping blow by into the intake - it's been common practice at least since the sixties, that I can remember first hand. How many of you remember compressors forcing air into the exhaust manifold back then, for complete burn of exhaust components? They have come a long way from those days, and given us more power per cubic inch, along with better efficiency, and better mileage....... A catch can ain't gonna do that for ya!

Almost forgot - almost all of those aftermarket, hi performance, mufflers, won't pass noise restrictions, imposed by law - which is a big part of why the engineers designed the mufflers the way they did.... manufacturers are required to do that. Meanwhile, they also try to design in interior comfort, by making the "noise" pleasing to the majority of ears. Everybody doesn't like loud, even if some do!

There's a lot more to this than just making blanket statements.

I've seen real world results first hand whether you choose to believe it or not.

There's a lot of room for improvement on these trucks.
If you dont believe it you are living in a very sad closed minded little box.
I'm not trying to get in a pissing match with you, just trying to be practical.

So far, your "claims" are just that.

Sure, increases are possible; but, you have to weigh the cost against them. Part of those costs are longevity, balanced power, $ cost, balanced performance, mileage ...... etc, etc, etc.

The manufacturers have to submit their package to the government to prove their claims......... aftermarket tuners do not! Frequently aftermarket products include a disclaimer, advising off road use only, because they can't meet the requirements.

As I said before, there is a lot more to it than claims and opinions.

I've been around the block a few times, and have absorbed a lot...

Well said Phil, well said, in BOTH of your latest threads..! I totally agree with you...!

For BlackRamHemi:
I`m not lookin for a pizzin contest either dude, BUT,
some of us dont really care about modding our trucks, some of us just want to drive them just the way they are.
If "YOU", have to go to the extreme because you`re led to believe this an that makes it better, then go for it, its YOUR truck and YOUR money.
But all this money spent on modding, seems more costly than its really worth in the end result, to some of us.
To gain only a mile or two per gallon with modding, to me, isnt worth the effort or money in my opinion.
I get 22mpg+ h/way and my truck has never been touched, bone stock just like the day i bought it new, and you had to mod YOUR truck to get that?
I`ve noticed you have a regular cab 4x4 truck, i have a quad cab 4x4, and i get around the same mpg as you.
I guess i drive alot easier than you do, so mods aren`t really nessesary for me after all.
I will have to say dude, you do have a very sharp looking truck regardless...!

...Clearly you two know everything,
and nobody needs to mod anything on a new Ram.

I've deleted my posts and cleaned out my "garage" since my Truck,
my Mod's, input or opinion isn't valid or welcome here.

Thanks
I guess I'm done with this place

If there's Ram owners here that want to know how to turn a 4G Hemi from a 15-16 second slug into a 13 second Beast, and still get 23mpg
for minimal cost with a few minor mods...you'll have to find it on one of the other boards that are more geared to that... I'm on several of them.

Clearly, you never approached the subject with an open mind! Too bad!

It's discussions like this that really educate people on what can/can't be accomplished.

Good for some reasons, bad for others...... Nobody attacked you, or your truck. Just tried to shed light on the "opinions" offerred.
