Question for 2500 owners
Under the hood it says you need to grease the front of the drive shaft with "MS 6560 Lithium". Can I use any lithium grease? I'm about to chage the the fluid in the front and rear differentials. Anyone know how much they hold? I couldn't find anything in the manual. I need to use "synthethic GL-5 SAE 75w-90" for both front and rear, it also says additive not required (for LS). I assume it's not required because it's already in the lube from the dealer. If I go to pepboys and buy some 75-90 how do I know if it has the additive already? Does the rear cover have a gasket? This will be I first time changing these fluids and I'm just trying to get everything I need before I start.
Any lithium grease should be fine for the driveshaft.
I don't know what type of LS unit that the rear has on the 2500, if it is not a clutch type, then it does not require any additive.
They should just have a bead of RTV sealer on the covers and no gasket. I like the black RTV for those.

No gasket sealer. Its a rubber/metal gasket that is reusable and use no sealer. The 2500 and 3500 have AAM axels. American axle manufacturing. The posi unit is not a clutch type. Its a gear type. You use 75w90 Synthetic GL5 gear oil. Not sure on capacity. More then likely about 4 qts.
