Nobody does a "flush" any more, they just use a fluid replacement machine. So are you saying that you had them only change the filter and whatever fluid was in the pan (less than 1/3 of the total volume)?

It does everything but the converter and cooler...but yes, the purpose was to inspect my filters and fluid for clutch wear and the pan magnet being that the 28k mile change wasn't needed in the first place. I watched them flush a quart of new fluid down it while the pan was off and thought that was prety cool of them because they didn't have to do that. Same with the rearend, only I wanted to inspect for shavings and bearing wear because of these rearend problems but they wanted too much so I just changed the engine oil instead. I'll check the rearend myself or have my tire shop friend/owner at Goodyear do it. But they did call it a flush that they wanted $169 plus to do...what it really was I don't know and will ask them next time around. The last time I went they said I needed a change at 30k, this time it was a different guy and he looked at me like I was an idiot for changing it so soon. I told him that I trailer 4 to 7k lbs and wanted to see the damage done and he still said I didn't need it...oh well, I want it done? I guess I could have spent the extra 40 or so but I wanted a pan off inspection and they let me see everything. I felt lucky to get them to do it so soon and in the express lane at that. This was a walk in, not an appointment, and they were very busy. BTW...thanks for the POS info, I had forgotten all about that, lol! EDIT: I forgot...I had them check my tie rod ends, pinion nut and backlash as well and I asked them to check all of my fittings. But they said that the grease fittings were all sealed so there weren't any to check...don't know if I like that or not? But like I said, the service was great and everything checked out...makes me wonder about all the commotion on here. Also, one thing that did throw me of was the tranny/rearend tech telling me that he never saw any tie rod or pinion nut end issues. Not long after he told me that, the guy who just paid 16k for running gas in his deisel, told that he had just recently had his tie rod ends replaced at this very dealership...I'm like wtf, lol???

You have to remember how many trucks are produced from 09 on. How many good to how many bad?
My 09 ram box is a BEAST . 110,300 miles and no problems [ 1 fouled spark plug]
Changed the rear fluid , tranny, anti freeze spark plugs / air filter[K&N]. I run 100 to 200 miles a day. 5-6 times a week . Starting a job in Lubbock Texas, live near Dallas . Will have to make some trips out there .

These trucks are very good . Do some people have problems yes, do they have a GOOD dealer???
My dealer changes oil for 16.48 total .... They want to get you in and then up sale . I have a lady there that knows the amount of driving I do . She looks over the sheet to make sure everything is ok before I leave . There's no
' well you need a engine flush , gas treatment ..."
Find a GOOD dealer and sit down and talk to the adviser, don't like em, ask for another .

I can remember when we were kids we would got to a barber collage for hair cuts
[ really cheap ] . The 1st thing you ask was " How many hours do you have" ..LOL

These trucks are mechanical , and do have parts that break and wear out.
Keep Posting ..

IMHO--- Your treatment and satisfaction at a dealership service department depends on the personal relationship you have built with the service writers, service manager and the techs. Right or wrong if you take the time to establish a good relationship, chances are they will treat you very well.(There are always exceptions to this as we all know there are dick heads in every profession). When I take my truck or the bosses car in for service I take the time to bs with the service writer and the tech and I also try to bring a dozen donuts for them. I've found that when there isw a "ify" call on a warranty problem their decision usually goes my way. I've identified a tech that I found I can trust and I ask for him to work on my truck or car because of the training and knowledge he has.

Little dealer near me serviced a diesel with a nasty factory filter. Tried to sell the air filter. Owner declined. Towed in next day with a junk new filter sucked into the turbo. Lots of carnage in the turbo. Lucky that was all it did. Was his dime.
