Default towing 3 horse trailer legal with a 1500?

I'm just wondering if all the specs are legal to pull a 3 horse trailer with a 1500? I know that power wise the hemi will have no trouble, but I just wonder if transport were to pull one over would the ratings all pass legal inspection?

here are the two different trailers I am thinking about, 3 horse config, would one or both be legal?:

gooseneck, this one has an empty weight of 4500 lbs, then each horse would add 1000lbs.

this one is bumper pull, has an empty weight of 3700 lbs, then each horse would add 1000lbs

Depending on configuration of the truck the second one should be fine

my sport (2011 crew 20s 3.92) is rated to bumper tow to about 9500 lbs. You do need an aftermarket high as the factory one is only rated to 5000 lbs without a weight distributing hitch. Depending on your diff you should be higher rated than me because sports weigh more than any other config IIRC and, crews definately weigh more than quads.

you allowed to flat tow anything up to 12000 pay load without a CDL. the truck isnt the issues its the tires. you will need to run 8 ply tires with a load range E. if your runnin 5th wheel the tounge weight is distributed equally over the back 1/2 of the truck so it wont be nearly as much as off of the bumper or reese hitch. I towed a 4 stall 25' like the first one you listed. with my Dakota. your 1500 will do just fine. i would requiment a external trans cooler and to remove the valve from the line so you dont burn the trans out. and dont run overdrive until your on the open road. (above 65) it will streach the bands and weaken clutches.

the stock tires are definitely not load range E

is it important to change all 4 tires? or could I get away with the stock tires in the front, and put load range E on the back?

ALWAYS< ALWAYS> ALWAYS, match your tires. Severe handling quirks are always nasty..... especially with all that weight in and behind you.

but wouldn't it be ok to use the same size all around, but load range C in front and load range E behind?

I would think you should be fine. I personally would go with the goose neck over the bumper. The goose neck will sit directly over your axle. The bumper will lower the back end of your truck, which would put more on the tires and bumper. If you plan on towing it quit a bit, just spend the money for all 4 E load rated tires. As for the CDL thing. I have a CDL. I can tow 20,000 pounds WITHOUT a CDL as long as the truck I am towing it with does not go over a GVWR 26,000 lbs. So you could have a 3/4 or 1 ton truck and pull 20,000 with out a CDL.
