Cool Weird Electrical Problem

My 2010 Ram 1500 has suddenly developed a weird problem. Whiile sitting parked, we came out and found it unlocked with the windows down. I put them back up...and after about 30 seconds, there was a clicking from under the dash or hood, and the windows started rollling down...in about 3 increments...then the front doors unlocked and a few seconds later the back doors unlocked.

Of course we are on vacation about 2000 miles from home, the local dealers are all busy for the next week, and we are JUST past warranty...36,200 miles. Any one have any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like one of the key fobs was in somebody's purse or pocket and the 'unlock' button was being pressed. That's about what would happen. The Chrysler remotes we get with the RAMs are the WORST keyless entry remotes I have ever seen on a vehicle. The buttons are way too easy to accidentally activate in a pocket. Most other rational manufacturers create remotes with buttons recesses into the body of the remote. [/rant]

This style we had with our Grand Cherokee was way better. Never had a problem with accidental activation.

Default Thanks for the Suggestions

Hmmmm.... I'll definitely check the fuse for the windows. Maybe the doors and windows are on the same circuit, which would make sense.

I agree...the key fobs are poorly designed. I don't know how many times I've accidently locked/unlocked doors or even started the engine with mine. I don't think that's the problem this time as it continues to happen. You can disconnect the battery and it is alright until you start the vehicle again. Then it starts clicking, unwinding, and unlocking.

In a few I'll check that fuse block!

I wonder if you were near something that was putting out a signal close to your trucks FOB setting?
Has it happened since?

I'd hate for that to happen during a down pour......

Ditto here on pressing buttons in your pocket. Did you buy a ext. warranty ?

Thanks for the help. I pulled the fuse for the power doors and the fuse for the power door node...put them back in...and it appears to have fixed the problem. I'm guessing that one of them had built a little corrosion.

I have sat down with my key in pocket and hear the horn blow and the doors lock with the key pictured here for my 08. Quite annoying to be on my riding mower and hearing the horn blow when hitting a bump.
