Default Tire Choice

I need some help with my tire choice. I've narrowed my search down to the Hankook DynaPro ATM R10 and the Nitto Tera Grappler A/T for my 2011 Spoprt CC 4x4. I don't haul anything other than my mountainbikes, campinggear and the like. Looking for something with good tread wear that will do well in the snow and mud.

Are you looking for recommendations for other options or support for one of your two picks?

I'm running the Hanooks you listed and like them a lot. They have a slight howl at slow speeds but, and highway speeds I can't hear them at all. The 10 plies are somewhat stiff but I need them because I metal detect out in the desert alot of times by myself and I don't need a flat tire out there. They are pretty good in the sand . As far as mud and snow...I don't know, I live in New Mexico. I've only had them on for 2K miles so I can't tell you anything about wear. I run them at 45 lbs on the street and drop to 35 lbs. off road. So far so good. I would buy another set when the time comes.

BigBlue - I'm open to other suggestions

NewMexicoRam - Thanks for the feedback. Odd question - did the 10 plies do anything to your MPG?

Quite honestly, I drive a big 4x4 with almost 400HP so I don't bother with checking my mileage.

Do some research on Cooper Zeon LTZ tires. Lots of people across many brands of trucks and SUVs seem to like them and give them good marks for traction, (relative) quiet, and looks. I don't think high mileage wear is exactly their main selling point, but since the stock Goodyears on my truck will be toast in probably 30-35K that's not a high hurdle to beat. Best thing is that the Zeons can be had for way less than a lot of other brands in the same 20" size. I just got a set for $599 plus about 60 to install. Most other brands with decent attributes end up a lot closer to $1000.

I cannot see your poll on the mobile site, but I'd recomend either Toyo Opencountrys which I had on my 1500 and worked EXCELLENT in rain, snow (Alberta winter!), and sand (Oilsands Territory).

I'm running BFG just because I'm interested in seeing if they'll last 100,000km. They too seem to be a great tire that's very durrable. No snow experience on them, but highway dry/wet is very good.

You can't go wrong with BFG for sure!

But for the 20" Sport wheels the closest thing to an all-terrain tire BFG seems to have is the 'Rugged Terrain'. The description for that makes it sound like it leans considerably more toward an 'all season' tire than an 'all-terrain' tire. Maybe there is a BFG all-terrain tire in a close size that might work, but for direct fit you're not going to get the BFG All Terrain or Mud Terrain.

Rugged Terrains are garbage. They wear very fast!

I know I've seen 20" BFG-ATs around here on trucks.. strange!

Open Countries have R20's though..
