Default Loud Ticking on Startup

I have had my truck for 2yrs now and never heard the ticking until a couple of weeks ago. It is pretty loud. I have been reading up on some threads in here about the "Hemi Tick". Is it normal for this ticking to start after 2yrs of driving? The ticking only lasts for about 30 seconds and only does it after sitting over night or for a long period of time. I am planning o taking it in when I get a chance but thought I could get some insight before I do.

Have you changed oil and oil filter brands in the last couple of weeks?

Could be a leaking exhaust manifold too.

your exhaust manifold bolts are broken off. that explains that it goes away after warming up and swelling the gasket.
take it in. its covered under lifetime powertrain warranty

My '09 just started doing this last week as well. (46k on her) I have yet to take it into the dealership, but my buddy who is a mechanic said that it sounds like an exhaust leak. I'd like to know how you make out..

Has it happen to my '09 about 6 months ago, it was broken manifold bolts. They replaced them and all was good again. It's a warranty and known recall repair.

Deke,

This is the TSB that pertains to this issue if it is indeed the manifold bolts.

NUMBER: 11-002-11

SUBJECT:
Engine Ticking Sound In Cold Temperatures
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replace the exhaust manifold bolts for cylinders 7 and 8 with new
stainless steel higher strength bolts.
MODELS:
2009 (DS) Ram 1500 Pickup
