mil light after hard acceleration on highway
Called dodge/ram today, they said it is not covered under powertrain warranty and that I get it checked for a hundred dollars and the will see what they can do, usahemi can you send me your case number and details, and possibly copy of repair invoice?
Was able to get the SRV done per the TSB, cost 100 co-pay (cost of parts I guess) for the $400 job, the rep at ram wanted me to pay the cost to diagnose on the machine as well, I already had the code read from discount auto parts for free, ended up not having to pay for the diagnostic, they did screw up my a/c return line and had to replace it and gave me a rental, think that was another way to get money out of the manufacturer, dont know, but it is fixed, looking to get the maxcare lifetime now since I am keeping this truck for a while. Also this is not covered under powertrain warranty. If you have issues and close to out of warranty date, call RAM and they seem willing to help, the rep. Christina did alot and she must of called me everyday until it was fixed to find out where things were at with the truck.

Thought I'd resurrect this old thread for continuity sake.
Been having the MIL/CEL light come on/off intermittently for a couple of weeks. Finally got a reader and it's P1004 - short runner valve. I had the TSB done 4 years ago, shortly after I bought the truck in July of 2009. They replaced/extended the wiring. That time, it was repaired under warranty. But from what the previous posts say, it's not covered under the Lifetime Powertrain warranty - which seems odd as it's part of the engine management, not the HVAC door/actuator (just for example) that wouldn't be covered under Lifetime Powertrain warranty.
Anyhow, will be at the dealership tomorrow morning (9/11) and will let you know what the scoop is.
I say if it's the same issue, that was "repaired" four years ago, how come I have to pay for it now? It's not a "consumable"... we'll see.

I had scheduled an appointment for the P1004 and an oil change for this morning - got there early and waited 10min till the opened. Explained to them that I read the code and that I had already had the work done under warranty 4 years ago when it had about 1K miles on it (now it's 50 months later and I'm at 39K miles).
Anyhow, they have good WiFi at McPeeks (Anaheim, CA) so I stick around and work. 1.5 hours later the service writer informs me that they performed the oil change, the trucks ready to go, but that I'll have to be back in 4-5 days in order to replace the short runner (intake) valve. I ask if it's covered under warranty and he says yes - not a dime out of my pocket. The only thing I had to pay for was the oil change ($33).
Long story short - glad I didn't have to fight my way through a warranty claim and bitch or be bitched-at. I get all my service (oil, brakes, etc) done at dealerships and have the paper trail to prove it - don't know if that helped, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt. Hopefully the install goes smooth... still waiting on parts for the differential, though.

Update: they replaced the entire intake manifold (including the short runner valve). When I picked up the truck, it was as clean as when I had dropped it off (was kept overnight as the short runner valve was not included in the new intake - I was told that it typically is). Anyhow, Roy, the service writer, was great to deal with and I'm glad not to have had to pay for the repair as the diagnosis was that the valve had seized.
Hopefully, the wiring will hold up as well - we'll see.
