Dodge tech on mds vibration.
I've had my 2010 Ram in 2 times for the vibration at 45 and now at 55 with about 8k miles on truck. Last verdict was Mds problem and no fix..maybe I will drop by with the picture from post #9 and see what they say. wish there was higher up than the dealer to try to get a solution. I'm starting to enjoy driving my old 2002 f150 work truck more than the new dodge
I was just going to get a new muffler and tips put on my truck but I am sure if I do they will say it's the aftermarket exhaust. But I don' thave an issue right now, haven't so far 21000kms which is not a lot but....I can't see a muffler making the torque convertor mess up.

But a crappy torque convertor can SURE mess up the sound of a good muffler when the TQ locks in and out or shudders like these trucks are doing. With a loud muffler, these trucks sound like they`re dying while the torque convertor locks and unlocks while in MDS mode. They actually sound VERY annoying if the exhaust is loud. Reminds me of a moaning dying cow... or sounds like a 4cylinder ford running on one cylinder while its in MDS mode.

I dont believe a re-flash is going to fix "your" particular problem. See thread #9, it should explain everything in there for you.
Every one of these 4th gen trucks has this very rattling/vibration problem, some are just worse than others.
Some people dont even realize they actually have a problem until someone shows them what it is.
It is a torque convertor issue, "Case #1121000005" fix`s the problem.
Supposidly this special new torque convertor is now available.
My own opinion, i hope it DOES fix it, because i will NOT buy another dodge truck until this problem is 100% cured...!
This is really lame for chrylser to send these trucks out like this and let it go on for as long as they have.
This is NOT what i call quality control...!!! They HYPE`D up these new dodge`s, now they should step and fix them..!
My guess is, they`ll NEVER recall these trucks for this vibration problem, but squeaky wheels get the grease so to speak...!
They`ll most likely wait until someone dies in a crash due to a transmission blowing apart while driving down the highways.
Bet they`ll step up real fast after that huhhhh...!!!!
My next problem, do they have ANYONE smart eough to install these new torque convertors PROPERLY...??? Probably not...!
These wanna be mechanics will not re-torque anything to spec, and leave out a few bolts here and there.
They`ll just blow it in, then ram it out. They dont give two sh*ts about you OR your truck...!
Next thing you know, you got parts and pieces falling off your truck.
Nothing will be put back on properly at all...!!!!!
Nough said...! ...and good luck guyz...! Hope this helps...!

You`re absolutley right, the muffler CANT mess up the torque convertor.

SO unless you`ve had the new updated torque convertor put in, your tuck has the exact same issue as ALL of them do.
Yours might not be quite as bad as others, but the issue IS there..!
What am I supposed to see, the only thing I don't like is the slow shift my Durango R/T 2003 shifted nice and firm but in tow haul mode is much better but so far still no droan we are around over25000kms I dont think all are affected.
I have 24K on my 09. When I was test driving trucks in Feb of 09, I noticed a couple of vehicles with a slight vibration but no drone. The one I finally purchased has not had a drone, vibration, clunking, etc. going in and out of MDS. I fall into the category with aepowell. No problem. For those that have the issue I hope Dodge comes up with a solution. I don't need someone to "roadtest" my vehicle to tell me of a issue that is not one mine (at least yet).
I bought my 2009 Ram 1500 with Hemi in August, 2011 with 49,000 km on it (30,000 miles). It now has 68,500 km on it (42,000 miles). I just returned from a 2 day trip putting on over 600 miles and continue to be impressed with how smooth and quiet this truck is...aside from that beautiful Hemi sound. As far as "all" 4th Gen Rams having a torque converter issue, I can't detect any issue with my truck--no unusual vibration at any speed. Is the torque converter issue simply related to a different sound around 45 - 50 mph and slight vibration, or is it a reliability issue too?
IMHO if it is not a reliability issue I would be tempted to leave well enough alone. I'm not confident enough in dealership mechanics to handle a TC exchange without causing some other problem.
