Dodge tech on mds vibration.
Is the torque converter issue simply related to a different sound around 45 - 50 mph and slight vibration, or is it a reliability issue too?
IMHO if it is not a reliability issue I would be tempted to leave well enough alone. I'm not confident enough in dealership mechanics to handle a TC exchange without causing some other problem.

Mechanic`s causing more problems = I totally agree with you..!!!
I`m in the middle of issues as we speak, since the dealership idiots worked on my truck.
They are buying the cheapest TC they can have built for them, they would rather make excuse`s and loose customers first.
Which is nothing new for chrysler, they`ve been doing this kind of business practice for years, i dont see it ever changing very soon.

If it bothers you, then move on to another post/thread. Most people dont want to hear that your truck is perfect and theirs should be too just because yours is. We`re all happy for you that your truck has no issues or problems, and i wish everybody could be so lucky, but we`re not. Some people DO have issues or problems with their trucks and are looking for others that have had theirs fixed and would like to know the history and how it got fixed.

For the record, my 09 has absolutely no discernable vibration or drone. My truck, purrs right along silky smooth all the time (until it’s floored then it rips and growls). It is smoother and quieter than most any car I have ever ridden in (I do still have stock exhaust). I have not noticed any MDS induced behaviors other than indicated tachometer changes. My truck has been reflashed several times by the deale , it was an early Nov 08 build. That is not to say others do not have the issue and I hope it can be fixed for those who do. I have never had anything close to vibration on the gas pedal either but many others have reported that too. I have had multiple issues with my AC control head and the dealer has just fixed it again for free even though I am at 40K miles and out of the warranty for that. I also had the broken exhaust manifold bolt which progressed into a warped manifold and eventually the cylinder head had to be pulled to get the broken bolt out.
About 45 mph i can feel and hear the vibration. Feels like it doesnt have enough power to say in 4 cyl mode as soon as it switches out of MDS mode the vibration stops. Do I need to take it in and have it looked at? If the replace the TQ would it be a different TQ that what came in the truck from the factory?

My '11 does this. It has a MBRP catback. I previously had an 06 charger with headers and catback and when it went into MDS it also sounded like ****, especially with the lockup converter, but not a vibration. I had kinda just figured it was the MDS and load on it. I gotta try the tow/haul mode and see if it still does it. Thanks for the info.

As you might already know, the TC makes a noise (kind of a whurring sound)
Are you aware of the "Star Case" issue with the TC`s...? If not, do a search here. Use key word >>> STAR CASE
If you have any low speed torsional vibrations that are mostly felt thru your gas pedal, steering wheel, or the drivers seat, it is a combination of the MDS and sometimes the TC causing it due to such low rpm`s with the hemi engine. Not so much the TC, but the MDS enhance`s the torsional vibrations that people are feeling. When in MDS mode, the vibes seem to be traveling thru to the exhaust system and causing vibrations through out the truck(s).
As of right now, a friend of mine an i are working on some ballast`s to bolt up to the exhaust pipes and it seems to be taking care of a good share of the vibrations that is/are being felt up through these trucks. I will keep updating from time to time to let you guys know how its working out and if this IS the fix or not to all these torsional vibrations everyone is complaining about. Just a heads, if you have exhaust drone, the bolt on ballast`s will not fix that issue.
