Changed rear diff fluid and found this:
They went to the 5/100,000 warranty to keep up with what Ford was doing. Unlike the lifetime warranty, the new warranty is transferable and applies to whoever owns the truck, not just the original buyer of the new truck. I'd rather have the transferable warranty myself.
Unfortunately we (in canada) were never given the option of lifetime warranty.
I still have warranty left but I plan on taking it to a qualified drivetrain shop for inspection/quote so then I can present that to the dealer and say "Here is whats wrong, don't dick me around and waste my time - fix it!"

The lifetime warranty is great if you are like me and keep a vehicle forever. If you are the type that sells and replaces every few years, then it isn't so good due to it being non-transferable.

From experience that surely will not get you to the front of the line while you are waiting in the future. Or you will be always arguing about what is covered what is not. Things will go wrong right after you leave the shop at 5 when they finally got it done but all you can do is wait for the tow truck. When you find a good dealer stick with them and well if they say something is not wrong when you know it is then after they have had they go at it then I would go somewhere for the second opiinion and this way Customer Service might even pay for the other check up or give you a free oil change or something ?
I disagre with the "free oil change" scenerio. All that is, is a "shut up" freebie from incompitent dealers. Dealerships should be held accountable for your loss of work due to their incompitence. Its pretty dam sorry when you have to pay someone to diagnois a problem, then go back to your dealer and HOPE that they do the job correctly. I`ve been to my dealer several times, and a couple other dealers as well for my truck having a very bad gear whine. Not one dealer wants to do anything about it. I`ve taken my truck to a pro shop 100 miles from me, they said the rear differential is not set up properly and thats whats causing the whine, but yet the dealerships tells me its normal and sends me on my way. The terrible thing about it is, i paid money out of my own pocket, to have someone tell me something i already knew the answer to.
Take it to the dealer along with the metal piece and ask them to check it out. You never know, someone there may have seen something like this before. Besides, you still have warranty on it. If the dealer refuses to do anything about it, call Chrysler and create a record of your issue. If the pumpkin dynamites later, you can take them to small claims court for repairs.
