Michelin LTX MS2 or GY Wrangler SA
Just put the michelin LTX A/T2s on mine for 1266 from sears, absolutely love them over the oem gys, very quiet nice look, don't known about snow, don't have it down here, but will try them after xmas in the mountains up north.
Heading into a 3rd winter on the original HPs (been snowing on and off for the last 10 hrs) and these must have been from some special batch because contrary to the reputation this tire has, they've worked pretty well in this neck of the woods - winters here run five months or more and this will be my 21st or 22nd... or maybe it's the 23rd
, at this location.
Nevertheless, it'll soon be time for the HPs to go and I've been considering those two contenders. Guy I work with has the GY SAs on an Avalanche and he loves em for all the ice and snow we deal with.

hes due for tires here shortly as they wont make it through the winters and wants michelins as he says they are the best/last the longest out of any tire hes ever had on a truck.
now me, I always go with nitto terra grapplers. I'm on my 3rd ram and 3rd set of terra grapplers and wont go any where else.
After 1 week review.
So far I am really liking the GY Silent Armor tires. it is hard to believe that the stock Wrangler HP are made by the same company. But, as the GY shop said that installed my tires, the HPs are an embarrassment to GY and they won't even install them.
So far, they seem to be as quit, if not more so then the HP. FAR better on wet roads. We had 2 big rain storms, and a little one, and I couldn't break loose on a corner if I tried. (well I am sure I could if I floored it, but that's not the point)
To my surprise, I seem to have GAINED a little in MPG, which is great as I was planning to lose 1 or 2 MPG.
As for snow, none here yet, and I am leaving for St. Lucia tomorrow, so maybe there will be some when I get back, and I can update then.
I am very happy with them so far, no regrets yet for not going with the Michelin. Lets just hope this keeps up.

FINALLY got some snow to see how the Silent Armour handle themselves. As you can see from the pics, the driveway is a good test for any tire in the winter. Most fail. The stock HPs had NO chance in 2wd, and even a few times 4wd wasn't enough. The SAs did AMAZING, I am very impressed with them. 2wd, and I was able to make it all the way too the corner, stop put it in 4wd and slowly creep the rest of the way. 4wd from bottom to top without so much as a tire spin. The roads were slushy and icy on the way to town, but 2wd was all I needed, I did put in it 2wd Auto for a bit to compare. Very happy with these tires so far!
From the bottom

First big corner

Couldn't take any more on the way up, so I took a couple going down.

I have a set of Hankook RW11's (they are a directional snow tire) on my Ram. I chose to stud them because I will swap spring and fall but man do they have traction!!

Two of my ex's Grand Cherokees had Michelin LTX tires on them and one had Goodyears. The Michelins outperformed the Goodyears in every facet you could look for in a tire...
Keep an eye on the tread wearing. I put a set of the Silent Armor's on my wives Jeep Commander and the edges are completely worn down after about 15k. I had the Jeep aligned prior to install and I had it check a few months ago. I have also rotated the tires every 5k. The last tire store I went to though did tell me that they where the wrong type of tire for the Jeep, he went as far as to tell me that the same equivilent tire that he sells(Firestone Destination AT)would be a bad tire for the Jeep as well. So it might just be the Jeep. Having said all of this I was between the SA's and the Firestone zDestination AT tires and I am very happy with the Firestone's they are wearing awesome and with a little weight in the rear they have been great so far this winter.
I had to replace the Goodyears on the ex's '02 Grand Cherokee at 23k miles. Was not a happy camper!!! Her '98 had the Michelins on it and when I gave it to my mom when we bought the '02 it had 52k on them. My mom sold the thing when my step dad had a stroke in '05 and they needed a mini van for his wheelchair access. Still had the Michelins on it with 70k miles on them...
