Default New muffler for mds

After taking Chrysler 3 weeks to order me in a new muffler, its getting installed Friday morning. It is supposedly the fix for my vibration and drone at 45 mph. Man, my truck is running worse and worse. I hope this solves the problem, or Chrysler has a big problem on their hands. Im not wanting to go get a lawyer, but might have to.

Good Luck Bob, hope it works out.
My bet, is that it wont fix the drone.
Eventually it will be back.

We should start a sticky post with ALL the bad issues with these trucks.
It might make people on here realize there ARE alot of 4th gen trucks with issues.

MDS is one of the reasons I bought this truck - I knew 4cyl would vibrate some. No problems with it since they flashed my computer.

I'm at 56K - single exhaust and the only thing I ever hear is a slight rattle that sounds like a heat shield. Noise sounds like it would be in front of the muffler. Doesn't happen very often but it does only happen when the MDS is on. Its never bothered me enough to crawl under and see if there is anything loose.

24k, no issue with vibration or rattle noise from mds. MDS seems to work well on my 09 early build.

After reading posts on this and other forums, I have a suspicion that the early build '09s with the EZD versus the later EZH engines are smoother when going in and out of MDS. My guess is that there is a simultaneous torque converter locking/unlocking, transmission shift, deactivation of the cylinders and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) that causes the shudder/rattle. Since the VVT works with a oil pressure and the MDS does also, that may also contribute. The VVT changed some, I suspect between the EZD and EZH engines. Flashing the computer probably changes some parameters enough to fix some trucks but not all.
My early '09 EZD CC with 33,000 miles is as smooth as can be. If the muffler is not the answer, try changing the motor oil brand. I use mobil1. Good luck

The torque converter in the 10 & 11 trucks seem to be the main problem. Some ok, some arent.
Its causing a rattly noise and also shudders because its not locking up properly.
Reason its not locking up, the turbine hub an spline have way to much play.
Dodge has an updated TC that they say is better and cures it...we`ll see.

Pedrodog has hit on a good reason also...
a combination of the TC and the MDS system, it is causing ALOT of the problem with vibrations, buzzing gas pedals, droning, when all mixed together. I think some of these trucks with higher gear ratio`s vs lower gear ratio`s seem to effect the mix too. I also believe pedrodog is right on it with the difference between the EZD vs EZH because the 09 guys arent seeing as many issues that the 10 & 11 guys are. If a few of the later 09 trucks started changing into 10`s and got out at the end of the build, that would make sense why we would see a few 09 trucks with 10 & 11 issues.
