I think that we're all assuming that the OP doesn't know the difference between a tie rod end and a ball joint. There are no current recalls for ball joints on Gen 4 1500s

I could be wrong, but don't the ball joints go on the end of the tie rod?

Nope. Ball joints are what holds the spindle to the A-arms

Right, there are ball joints on the A arms, but isn't the tie rod end really just another ball joint? At least it looks like one.

Politically you ARE, absolutely correct...!!! They just dont call the tie-rod a ball-joint, even though it really is, a ball type joint.
Anyone that dosent believe that, needs to take a tie-rod apart and take a good look at it.
Basically a tie-rod has a ball & socket inside, and looks just like a ball joint internally.

So they are technically ball joints, they just call them tie rod ends. I guess that makes sense...lol! Anyway, the OP was somewhat correct in his statement, but the recall was actually for the tie rod ends, not the ball joints.

I get it. Guess I need to take a tie rod apart. I'm curious now! Thanks for clearing it up. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
