A friend of mine is dealing with this issue and they are making him jump thru hoops over this TC problem.
His truck barely has 3,000 miles on it... and after a few trips to the dealer, still hasnt got his fixed yet.
I`m not understanding how some are in an out with it being fixed, but my friends truck is NOT fixed yet.
His dealer is on it, but seems the hold up is chrysler`s techline guy might be the problem...dunno
The dealer/tech working on his truck has already told chrysler that it IS the torque convertor causing the problem.

I would like to see people post in here with great detail from the first time they visted the dealer, to being fixed.
I find it hard to believe why some are in and out and fixed in a few days and some arent.
Just trying to get to the route of the problem on why some are held up, some aren`t.
A week. I went in not knowing exactly what was wrong. Thought it was my exhaust, dealer thought the same so I took it to an exhaust shop. Exhaust guy looked it over for an hour and found no weld cracks, hangers loose, etc.

I then came across this thread and the lightbulb came on. Called dealer today and explained how the exhaust wasn't the problem and read him the info from this thread, he said they had replaced one a few months ago and that he would order the TC. So we will see what will happen.

Hey guys I have an '09 Laramie Crew 4WD and I had mine (torque converter) replaced at 41262 and guess what? At 44955 and this one is bad too! I am getting really bad shudder and vibrations through the pedal which I never got before when other was bad it was smooth most of the time. Appointment is set for Tuesday. Recall would be great I had to pay $250 deductible and for new filters. When they did mine they replaced the pump too but I have read they should not have done so because that adds extra unnecessary risk if they do it wrong. Very annoying issue and I can't vote but consider me part of the "had the noise and rumble shudder got it replaced and it is bad again" group.

Yup, big mistake removing the pump. If the transmission goes bad because of it, they`ll have to replace the whole trans and TC under warranty. If the trans does blow on you, (due to some internal parts that fall out when they pulled the pump) i hope your mechanic is smart enough to flush out the cooler and the lines really good before they run the new transmission. Also, i`m not understanding why you had to pay $250 bucks for. If you bought your truck brand new in the 09 model year, you have a lifetime warranty on the driveline if you are the original owner.

Sorry did not mention I bought truck with 27,000 miles on it end of January 2011. Since I am not the original owner I only got the 3/36,000 warranty but I bought aftermarket United Car Care warranty at purchase so I pay $250 for first issue and $25 for each issue after. They would not cover the filters under this warranty so I paid to replace those out of my pocket.

I am beginning to think this dealer has no clue how to properly repair a Ram because they also did a pinion seal for a $25 deductible about a week later $300 miles it took out my rear bearings and I had to spend $400 bucks for my mechanic to fix what their tech messed up by taking a short cut and not using a new crush sleeve when replacing said pinion seal. Not impressed.

They charged the warranty company as though they did the repair the right way. My warranty won't let me go anywhere else since I bought the warranty there unless it happens on a trip at least 50 miles away.

Wowwww smiley, i would be talkin to that warranty company about not being able to have a QUALIFIED dodge ram technician to fix the problems correctly. I dont care WHERE a person lives, doing the job right is MY very first concern...are they qualified to work on your brand of vehicle...!!! In YOUR case, the idiot wasnt even qualified to work on a tricycle by the sounds of it. I would HOPE that the warranty company you`re dealing with would want it done right the first time so THEY wouldnt have to keep paying for the same job over and over because some dumb azz didnt know what he was doing. (got tools, but no brains) You may want to look into that warranty company and threaten legal action against the warranty company for not letting you take your truck to a qualified and highly trained ram tech. And we wonder why we have to pay for such high insurance premiums... right ther ya go...!

The best thing to do is buy a superchip and turn the mds off. Thats what i have done and my truck is as smooth and quiet as any truck i have ever rode in. I know it sucks to have to do this, but its worth it
