I can tell a difference in the drive of the truck, seems tighter (for lack of a better word).
Didnt you also have the MDS vibrations too...?

Please come back an update us after the job is done.
Also just some heads up advice... make the tech check the transmission oil level with you standing right there before you leave. Just say "hey, do you mind showing me on the dipstick where the proper level should be...?" Look under your truck for oil spots on the ground before leaving too. Then ask the tech to go on a roadtest with you to see if the truck performs as it should.

Meeting with the Field Engineer tomorrow to check out my partial throttle rattle. Any recommendations on what I should have him look for other than the rattle itself?

Can't wait to see if it fixes more rattling, if that's the case i'm printing that paper and going to the dealer for a visit and taking the manager for a ride with me. I already did once and they thought i was crazy blaming it on my CAI, i'm not getting fooled twice. I'm actually used to the rattling i don't really hear like i used to, but when i think of it it's sure there and everybody that comes for a ride hears when i point it out. La Revolution!!!

Only other thing i might suggest, IF you have the MDS vibe issues (steering wheel, gas pedal vibes) with the TC noise, ask him about that too. But if yours isnt vibrating, no point in asking. I would ask him for the part number to the new TC, and also ask for a copy of the bulletin. Be nice to him, tell him how much you love the truck, but not the TC noise. Just being nice will get you alot firther, but you already know that.

GOOD LUCK to you too...!

i have had this issue of the noise under same conditions as many of you have experienced. today my truck was in for some recalls and changing out my spark plugs (its winter i have no garage and i can't be bothered to mess around with 16 of them right now in the cold) anyways i told them about the noise around the 1500/1600 rpm range and i have even shown them this thread and that others experience the same problem. they tell me no we don't think thats the issue. you probably just need your transmission fluids changed and clutches reset. i am due for a transmission service here in the next bit. i don't think its the problem but could that possibly be the cause ?

I have a "drone" sound around 80 kmh (50 mph) on partial throttle. No vibration or anything. Not sure what's causing it, but truck is running great and I'm not worried about the noise. For a truck, the Ram is exceptionally smooth and quiet (my other vehicle is a 7-Series BMW so I'm used to a smooth quiet vehicle...and I drive my Ram most of the time!). Based on what I've read, I expect the noise is either the TQ going into lock-up and/or related to the MDS but I don't think it is a long term reliability issue. IMHO.

If the noise gets worse or causes driveability issues then I will get it checked out--I find that when it comes to "unusual" noises unless it's very noticeable the dealer is more than likely not going to identify it.

As far as transmission fluid, I had mine changed at a very good local transmission shop along with the diff fluid. Made no difference to the drone sound at 80 kmh.
