I think it's a mistake to conclude that the exhaust resonance, shudder, and accelerator pedal buzz must always appear together, and for that matter, are always connected to the same cause. It is possible that these three symptoms are or can be independent and non-inclusive. In my case the resonance symptom is the only one I've experienced, irrespective of the state of the MDS or engine RPM. Since I know the current state of my tires, it is diagnostically inappropriate to attribute any other symptoms to the torque converter at this time. It is possible that the tires are masking another problem as yet to be detected, but that can only be determined after I'm satisfied that the tire issue is resolved. Since Christmas, medical bills, and New York State have taken their toll on my financial well-being, I'm going to have to get a few more months out of these square tires.

In the meantime, I was talking to a technician from the local Chevy dealer yesterday who seemed to validate what others have said about 20-inch tires, by saying they are complaint generators on Silverados as well.

Regards,
Dusty

Hello WaySlow,

I understand the disappointment of having issues with a brand new vehicle, but I don't think the 4th generation Ram is worse than previous versions and it is by far the most awarded truck in the last ten years. This is my first Ram, but since my son has a 2003 I have something to compare it to. This gen has a much stiffer frame, has the best ride of any truck, and handles very well. The interior styling and comfort is miles ahead of the previous generation, in my opinion. There's no engine noise in the passenger compartment, no wind noise, and when my tires were new, no road noise. My to-date average gas mileage is 17.78, and that's .53 more than my previous 4.7 Dakota.

Ram owners do not have a monopoly issues, especially tire issues. I suggest you take a peek in to some of the Chevy & Ford sites, or for that matter, go to the Michelin site.

I do hope your issues are eventually resolved to your satisfaction.

Best regards,
Dusty

Dusty - Thanks for the kind words but I would have to disagree. The day I registered my '11 it was in the shop for the first of 2 (so far) shift motors. It has spent far more time in Dodge's garage than my own. Unlike my previous Dodge's, this one does have a far nicer interior but that is not what I purchased it for. I have read about the other issues GM and Ford owners are facing which sucks, but at the end of the day I'm only worried about my truck and it too kinda sucks right now.

10Ram,
are you getting any vibrations other than the TC noise issue..? Reason i`m asking, i would like to know if you are experiencing any MDS vibes thru the steering wheel, seats, gas pedal, at low rpm`s and would like to know if and when the TC is replaced, is the MDS vibe resolved as well.

I have a case open with Dodge to address this amongst numerous other issues I've had with the driveline (2 shift motors in less than 10k miles) but find it extremely difficult to get a field engineer to take a ride with me.

Just gotta keep up the good fight.
I agree budd, i would keep calling chrysler until they get a field manager to take a test drive with you.
Some of these issues should have never happened with these trucks.
(ie: TC & MDS issues) I blame the lame engineering.

Might have found something out that works....
Working on some homemade ballast`s that i bolted onto the exhaust, and now the steering wheel, gas pedal, drivers seat, MDS vibrations have all just about disappeared. I`ll keep testing an let you guys know if this is the true magic fix to eliminating the dreadful MDS torsional vibrations that some of us are feeling at low speeds.

No vibration issues here, just the noise.

LU229, I know we've had different opinions on a couple of subjects but in this case I think you're doing a great job leading this effort.
