Question 2009 Ram - Signal Lamp Out

I have a 2009 Ram SLT and I noticed this morning after I had started the vehicle that a message appeared and said the right rear signal lamp was out.

I got out to verify this with my own eyes and when I turned on the right signal, I noticed the front lamp was blinking really fast and the clicking noise in the dash was going fast, and of course the rear lamp was out so there was no activity back there.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why all of a sudden the right blinkers are moving more rapidly than normal?

Also any DIY help would be appreciated. I really don't want to take this issue to a dealer or a mechanic if I can just fix it myself!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Because a flasher relay needs a load. The lighter the load the faster they go. (One light instead of 2 = lower load)

So basically (and hopefully) all I really need to do is just replace the bulb and everything should go back to normal?

That is the way you could tell if you had a light burnt out, the fast blinking. Now they have a message on the dash...cool. I wish I had blind spot notification that would be nice.

Well, I tried to fix this problem today and I had no luck. I went out and bought a replacement bulb, and I did verify that it was the correct bulb. When I put the new bulb in and started up the truck, I got the same message on the dash and still had the fast blinking and still no turn signal in the back.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else it could be and any steps I can take myself to resolve it?

Thanks!

I had the exact thing happen to me in my 09 Ram. I replaced the bulb on the right rear and dabbed a little dialect grease on the connection and it worked like new. I sent this truck to the son-in-law and have since purchased a new Ram 4x4 and he hasn't mentioned the signal light not working. Just make sure you have a good connection. On mine I could tell the bulb was burnt. Like I said, make sure you have a good tight connection and dab a little grease on there to protect it from moisture.

Do you have an multimeter? if so, set to the ohmmeter function and ohm out the bulb and it should read a short if it's good, open if it's bad. Now that you know if the bulb is good, leave it off and set the multimeter to the voltage meter mode and set it to 20 VDC and turn on the blinker and see if you are getting voltage to the center conductor, this will tell you if it's bad wiring. If you have a good bulb and good wiring, then the bulb is not making good contact with the socket. If you have a good bulb and bad wiring at the socket, use a needle and ***** thru the insulation of the hot wire about 1 foot away from he socket and try to see if there is voltage at the wire when the blinkers are on. Pain in the *** but hopefully it's just a loose connection at the socket.

Hi, so what if you have the quick blinking of th turn signal on one side and no turn signal light or brake light but the bulb is still lighting up as a normal red one? Is it still a connection problem? I tried to see if it was a fuse but I could not figure out which damn fuse it was...
