Bug Deflector hood protection?
On a new truck has anyone not used a bug deflector and if not, have you noticed any chips or other effects on the hood/windshield that you think would have been better if you put one one? I have had my (gasp) ford for 8 years and have always had one on. Im debating putting one on my new Dodge since it looks so good as is, but I want to make sure that I protect it as much as possible. I kind of shy away from the 3M film idea, as I dont like the thought of sticking something to my beautiful paint, so now I have to decide if I need anything else.
Thanks for any advice

I guess you really ever know how many bugs and rocks it deflects, but my bug shield gets plenty of bugs, but so does my windshield. I still have small rocks hit the windshield when following a dump truck to close so maybe it's just the idea of having one that makes me feel better. IMHO as long as you drive on the highway your going to end up with small rock chips unless you have a bra or use the 3M stuff.

I had the chrome bug deflector on my truck and decided to pull it off...I personally hated the look of it. It's sitting in on my work bench, if yah want I'll cut you a deal instead of spending $100 on a new one.
Just an option for yah!
loved the way the OEM deflector looked on the 3rd gens, had one, but they are butt ugly on the 4th gen, IMO who ever makes one that compliments it like the OEM on the 3rd gens will make a fortune. hint hint.
I cannot stand them I have a 09 Ram, and havent had a single issue but like others have said you just never know, I am not sure if they do any good, I also don't like the look of them on the front of my truck.
I got a chrome one too that I took off mine if your looking for one. Free to a good home if you come and pick it up from me locally. Too awkward to ship.

I don't like the looks of a bug deflector so I went with ScotchCal. Besides, you can cover any surface you want with it, so I have most of the vertical front surfaces covered. It's not 100% prevention from chips but it does a great job.
