Default Tons of electrical issues

Christmas eve I went to lock my truck and the horn didn't sound like it always does. On further investigation I found out that : the horn doesn't work, the wipers don't work, the transfer case doesn't work, the rear windows don't work, the ESP doesn't work, my blower doesn't work for the air/heat. Lots of codes and lights on my dash too. This all happened at the same time too. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what this might be? Similar Issues? I had a dealer tell me $850 to replace some module or something like that...don't remember the exact name of the part. Any help is appreciated!

IF all the fuses are good, then I want to say its something in the ECU. Either that or some guys have claimed that they have some loose connections in the dash that causes all that, sometimes the instrument cluster? Do you have a OBD reader? That would probably give some idea as to what the codes are and where the problems are. The dealers generally want 75 bucks to scan it to find out what it is. If you can get an OBD reader on that and read the codes you would be able to find out....

Unless you still have warranty on your truck, if you do just take it in! Computers on these things are picky, one thing goes wrong and the whole system is gone.

Sounds like it might be a TIPM issue. It's like a distribution box of sorts for all kinds of things electrical. I've heard of the connection coming loose on one of the plugs before that would cause issues. With as much stuff that's not working, i would imagine it's something similar. I added a link, I don't know if we're supposed to link other ram forums, but it has pictures of what I'm talking about. You don't have to do anything crazy, I would just make sure all connections are secure. Maybe disconnect and reconnect to be sure.

It is at the dealership right now, but no warranty....it's got 60k on it. The guy at the front desk asked how long I had my HID headlights in for and I told him about 2 years. Could HID headlights really hurt the TIPM though? especially after 2 years? he said he's not gonna attribute that to it, but it's possible. First dealership told me $850 to fix the problem, but he wasn't sure if that would really fix it or not, then if it didn't fix it we'd have to go from there. so i said no to that repair and took it elsewhere. Thanks for the responses...I'll keep you updated.

Some other food for thought, I was reading some other forums and a few people mentioned it being a loose connection somewhere having to do with the TIPM, and the problem would persist, and then quit all the sudden. Well, the dealer that I originally took it to said that the first few times they checked it, everything was fine and they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle, then they checked it again and it was messed up again. ??? i'm thinking loose connection. I'M NOT gonna pay for a new TIPM when it just needs plugged in the right way. I'm out of warranty since i got 60k on mine.

HIDS are definitely not the cause of your problem. Especially not abruptly like that. I would look into the TPIM issue. I did read somewhere on this forum that a user was having the same kind of symptoms and it was just a connector in the dash somewhere. Take a look around some of the topics here, it might help you out.

Get yourself a factory wiring diagram and check all of the connections. It'll be a pain in the butt, but better than paying someone else tons of money to do it for you. If that doesn't turn up anything, look at grounding points. Start at the battery and look at any other grounds you have. With that many things going wrong intermittently, I doubt your computer is bad. Try to pay particular attention to when it happens, such as going over speed bumps, during acceleration, hot weather, etc. If it has any sort of a pattern, that should help narrow it down. Good luck!

well, they want $800 to fix it, truck is in my dad's name since i had no credit, and he talked to the service rep and gave them the go ahead while i was at work I really think I could have tweaked some connections around and fixed it, but whatever now. I suppose if it happens again I know what to do.
