broken windshield=(
never had one break on me till this one either... Unless im in a hurry(fire call, late..etc) I usually always let my trucks warm up and de ice...(sorry greenies but i like a warm cab!)
I've broken one windshield so far. It was on my 99 ram 1500 a couple winters back. Had no chips or cracks so I figured it was from the temperature change and me closing my door because that's when it happened, shot right up the driver side top to bottom.
Dunno, maybe you guys shouldnt SLAM your doors so fast/hard. I suspect its a pressure issue when slamming the doors so hard and fast in extreme tempratures. Either that, or i have been very very lucky to have never broken one in 40+yrs, but then again, i NEVER slam or throw extreme effort into closing my doors either. (some times i have to re-open an shut them because i dont use extreme force on my doors) The trend seems to be, people adding extra efforts when closing their doors seem to be the ones with the problem. I watch people everyday just slam a door so dam hard on a brand new vehicle(s). Then they wonder why their doors dont seal good anymore, as well as open an shut harder than they use to when the vehicle isnt that old. To each their own, i`ll keep doing what i`m doing and hope i never break any glass. Its worked for me this long anyway...lol.

I'd check to see if there really is a TSB so you can get this covered.

It's never happened to me but when growing up in upstate NY it was pretty common to hear of it, always in winter. When I was dating my ex-wife she had a Chevette had the windshield go when she was warming up the car to go to work on one extremely cold day...
Man, what a coincidence. I got my 2009 Ram last August, and 4 days after purchase I parked in my driveway...went in the house for an hour...came out and there was an 8" crack in my windshield. Scratching my head for a few minutes then it dawned on me--my house backs onto a golf course and someone had missed the fairway, missed the rough, missed my backyard, and put the golf ball right over my house where it hit my windshield in the driveway. My neighbour said he heard a bang and saw a golf ball bounce onto the front lawn. The coincidence is that today I was driving on the highway and a small stone hit my windshield and put a chip/small crack in it. Was able to get it repaired. I put 320,000 km on my BMW and I don't know how many times small stones and crap hit the windshield but it never cracked. Now two windshields on the Ram in 5 months....(well one replacement and one repair).
