Default 2011 Dodge Ram Laramie - Rims

Hey Guys,

On my 2011 Dodge Ram Laramie I noticed while getting ready to washed the truck on two rims rust spots forming around them. Is this normal or should I go to the dealership and see what they can do? One of the service managers have been honest and really forward about getting my truck serviced the way it should have been when the rear window motor went out.

Post some pics...

The wheels on a laramie should be plastic coated alloy, none of which should rust.

Could be just road grime? I had buildups on my 07 rims that I thought was rust. With some good rim cleaner it came right off. Had to work it a bit tho.

In the first pic it looks like a light coating of surface rust like the OP stated... But in the others it looks like road grime. Possibly due to the lighting. I just sold my Step Bars off my truck and underneath the bars had some black spots just like your 2nd and 3rd picture. I used "goo gone" and some of it came up and some did not. I'd bring it into the dealer if it's still under warranty. Have you tried using any kind of metal polish "luster lace" type? That may work...

Yep, the truck is still under warranty should I call the Dodge Ram customer service line to see what they say for me to do. I tried Goo Gone, that didn't work I tried Neverdull worked a little bit I might just go ahead and take it to the dealership and talk to the service manager and let him do what he has to do to make me happy.

I'd think the brake dust would come off using never dull unless it has been caked and baked on there for awhile.....but possibly.

It's odd to see this on your truck living in SOFLA... no winter salt! Guys that see the rust form on there's see it in the north.. Stupid question here but do you trailer a boat and happen to dunk your rims in the saltwater at the ramp often?

I have found out that using the blue scotch brite pads work wonders on the chrome clad rims. If you use a little soap on the wheels then rub the spots out with the scotch brite pad. I have not had any scratching or adverse problems using the pads. Hope this helps.
