Default Loud 2012

I have a 2012 2500 megacab that has 4400 miles on it. Today I backed it out of my 45 degree heated garage and had to get out. There seems to be alot of engine noise that isn't there when the engine is at operating temp. It sounds like it is in the lower part of the engine. Any ideas?

Kind of like a tick. It sounds like my diesels when they were cold, but got quieter when they warmed up. This is the first I have noticed it because I usually back out of the garage and drive, or I remote start at work and it is warm by the time I get out there.

Have you changed your oil yet...? Are you using a factory oil filter (???)
If so, what oil did you buy/use, and how much oil did you refill it with (???)
Have you checked the oil level recently...?

Haven't experienced unwanted noises in mine. Been cold here lately and I usually allow the engine to run while I'm brushing the snow off it. What part of the country do you live? What are the temperatures?

I live in North Dakota. I just changed the oil to Mobil 1 synthetic. Red, so this is something common on the Hemi, it is sort of freaking me out. Thanks for the replies....Mark

from what i have heard it is in a lot of the hemi engines and dodge engines for that fact i got a 2011 hemi and it does it some when its cold and goes away and my dads 04 dakota has a little bit of a tick and it has over 100 k on a 4.7 so if its the tick that everyone tals about i havn't heard anything bad happening from it someone correct me if i am wrong i would likke to hear any different info than what i have heard if it is bad.

Anyone I've talked to personally with a newer 5.7 has not complained about the so-called hemi tick. My son's '03 has apparently had the tick but it has since dissappeared (he's got almost 90k on it now).

I think you'll find that the rocker arms were changed a while back for this issue. They've had three or four revisions to rocker arms since '03.

The ticking noise on 4.7s are usually caused by the hydraulic chain tensioners, and that's usually only after a lot of miles.
