Cargo Lights Tap?!?
sorry I thought I replied to your post! I am going to take a peak and pull stuff apart again tomorrow. Hopefully the snow is done falling and the weather clears up.
Sorry mikey i didn't have time to post pictures like I said I would, i got called in for work and I'm in the plane as I write, but if I can tackle this project I'm sure you can also, maybe if I find a dodge somewhere I can snap a f3w pictures lol. Once you find that stupid wire then it's just a matter of running your wires. Although it's not the greatest time to do this unless you have a nice heated garage. Just need a Lil test light to find the wire and those LEDs draw nothing so no need to run a power wire to the battery.

The average LED bulb draws 20mA of current on the low side and 35mA on the high side). Take a strip with 50 of these little LED's with the lower draw of jut 20mA and now your up to 1A. Two of these strips draw 2A. Now, on a circuit designed for maybe a 5A max draw, this is significant. It's almost half the rated poiwer for the circuit.
Now, Obviously Chryssler knows what you can/cannot do and they clearly instruct you to do this for the desingated wire as per instructions. I'm just letting you know not to be fooled and don't just use just any wire within the truck because not all can handle those "nothing drawing" LED's.
Most circuits are canbus controlled and monitor the current draw, so addition of those to any other circuit may cause problems.
You might have a point, but my third break light and cargo is led, and the bed lights are from recon. If it was still a halogen cargo light maybe but it's been over a year with no problems whatsoever. Obviously I'm not an electrician but it's good enough for me till problems occur I guess.
Ok mikey finally took pictures like 2 months later haha. Well this is how I did it for the bed lights, I don't care if anybody says it's not the right way this and that, it's just how i did mine and it's working so whatever.
First you pop that plastic cover off.

Once you lift it up and move the carpet away you'll see the wires running through, remove the tape and find the cargo light wire running through (brown i think it was) or you can find it easily with a light tester.
I then tapped into it and ran the wire under the carpet through the lil hole you see further up.

That hole then goes in the rear seat compartment, lift the carpet up away from the inside of that compartment and you'll see there's a hole with a plastic cap that goes right through the floor underneat the truck. I just drilled a lil hole big enough to run the wire through it.

Then i just ran that wire to the box and brought it up a hole and to the lights under the plastic covers. Then it's just a matter or running and wire and setting up your lights however you want.

This is how i setup mine, depending on the type you got, these are from Recon so i just cut a square in the box liner the size of the lights and ran them behind the box liner and glued them in place using a glue gun.
Enjoy
