HID's for 2009 Ram
I made some inquiries about a projector retrofit and it was just too much at $400 for the most basic setup - and $500+ for what I wanted.
So I opted for a simple plug and play kit into the reflectors. I bought the retrosolutions Ram specific kit and found a discount code online which brought the kit to just over $170 shipped. I'm hoping it ships tomorrow and gets delivered Saturday so I can install it Saturday or Sunday. If not, I will probably install it on Monday.

You'll be happy with the retro solutions.. Honestly...save up some cash and do the retrofit soneday it makes the HID's that much better. Bc without them you blind any driver without tints or oncoming traffic. It's not illegal to have them in w/o projectors just better light output.
By the way did you order the fogs? If so.. Those REALLY give you the good light.

Please do not install plug and play HID's. They are blinding and glaring. Please do not do that. They blind everyone oncoming and have poor light distribution. Get the projectors.
Halogen reflectors are meant for the focal point of halogen and putting an hid bulb in there changes the optics of it and generates MASSIVE glare. Especially on the dual lights

I'm well aware of the pains that a retrofitted reflector headlight can impose on other drivers. Our truck is our spare vehicle (we have 4 vehicles to 3 people). I daily drive a G35 Coupe and it's pretty low so if anyone is greatly affected by other headlights, it is me.
But also know that I had retrofitted HID's on my G35 for the fog and high beam (the low beam utilized a reflector based HID from the factory, and included a "high/low" function bulb that went from fog light to high beam). You'd be surprised to know that there was actually very very little light bleed/glare and you wouldn't know it was a retrofitted HID kit unless I told you.
That being said, the truck sees most of its miles out on the open highway where the only lights are from the front of the truck, so we definitely needed an upgrade, and my dad wasn't prepared to drop $500+ on a retrofit. I am doing the install and will do my best to adjust the headlights, but I don't think the glare is as bad as everyone on forums in general seems to act.
There really is a big misconception about glare. It's actually quite minimal from what I see in current high/low HID kits. Before, when people would retrofit something like an D2R bulb into an H4 housing, THAT is when the glare would be insane.
I will post pictures to show you guys what kind of glare is to be seen.

D2R is no differnt than an H4 HID H4 HID is merely an H4 base with an HID bulb that's a little shorter. They both have the same shape/style bulb with the same output, so I dont understand what the line of thinking here is??? All Conversion kits for halogen housings are just an HID bulb retro-fitted at a factory onto a Halogen base.
Sounds like you've talked yourself into installing them anyways.
